Name your top 3 concert MOMENTS from THIS TIOA tour
It could be a particular song, or a simple fleeting moment, sharing a concert experience, but name 3 moments from this tour that you will cherish and think back on, whether you went to one show or several shows........
mine are:
1. Simply seeing the band walk out on the stage at Columbus, only being able to see their shadows as they took their places, as the video screen behind them goes bright white, and then hearing those opening chords of Behind the Lines blast out as the lights came up and I see Genesis playing live for the first time (for me) in 20 years. That rush of adrenaline, that hair on the back of the neck standing up feeling as you realize you are once again seeing Genesis live
2. hearing the band kick into the last verse of Afterglow, as the song ramps up, the lights start backglowing from behind the drum kits, the dry ice comes out, and then Phil walks back behind the drum kit to finish off the song, Tony's mellotron like keyboards providing the chorus of voices, the ethereal lights in full glow so you just see the silhouettes of everyone including the double drums---always gave me goosebumps and the great feeling of familiarity, since I had seen Afterglow live 6 times before that (and never get tired of it).
3. the first gentle guitar notes of Ripples the first time I saw it played in Columbus, realizing I am going to hear one of my favorite songs of all time again live for the first time since the 1980 tour, with the familiar green and yellow lights shining down at an angle like sunlight in the forest
4. the quiet short guitar break near the end of Los Endos where Rutherford plays the Dance on a Volcano intro and the band kicks in---da da da da....da-da-da-daaaaaaaaaaaa, with the fog billowing, the lights giving us that Seconds Out look, the mellotron like keyboards soaring, and the power and majesty of Genesis' finest signature live piece of music blasting out with the bass pedals booming and Chester and Phil then kick into that rolling tom tom drum fill, and with that seeing the look of the 'newbies' around me who have never seen Los Endos live, with mouths open and jaws agape, as they witness the true essence of what Genesis is really all about.....
Ok, that's four. You know me---once I got going couldn't stop at 3.
