I love CAS. The only song I never could get into was Shipwrecked. Well, alright, and Small Talk. But honestly, aside from those two, I love it, top to bottom.
The Dividing Line is such a powerful song and is perhaps my favorite intro to any Genesis song. The progressive pieces are just awesome, and while the Collins era attempted to do that post-Abacab (some successfully, ex. "Home By the Sea", "Domino", and "Fading Lights"), I don't think they match the quality of some of the songs on CAS. "One Man's Fool" is definitely a serious highlight that I feel is ridiculously overlooked. Has that old school Banks keyboard sound to it, I'd say.
Certainly not awful or pointless. While I consider "We Can't Dance" my second favorite Genesis album, musically I agree with Squonkman, that it's their finest since Duke.
