New to Forum:Los Angeles guitarist meeting Peter Gabriel...

Greetings,blessings in 2009,Hello to All from sunny Southern California!

Steve Hackett's keyboardist-composer,England's Nick Magnus is a long time dear old friend of this Los Angeles guitarist.Staying,visiting me at my house in Pico Rivera,Los Angeles;and my flat in Weggis,Switzerland.

When I graduated high school in east Los Angeles,on my last day of school,I found my father dead of a heart attack at 77 on our living room floor.
The Earth felt like the ground was pulled from under me,I was shocked,surprised;and totally hurt my father was taken from this only child.
I moved with my guitars,echoplex,AD/A Flanger to London,England,(West Norwood),doing a lot of jams at Rod Argent's keyboard shop;and soon joined a band 90 miles outside of London in beautiful posh Bath,England.

With help,info from the drummer in the band;I heard Peter Gabriel lived nearby...
(I was lucky enough that a old farmer who respected The Gabriels gave me a ride on his tractor up Solsbury Hill.)
Soon meeting Peter Gabriel at 19 years old,and got to hang at his music room at his old cottage on Solsbury Hill talking music;and sharing his amazement flying on the Concord from the United States.
Peter was very kind with hospitality,thoughts,friendlyness;open heart and helped this Californian striving guitarist-musician as a youth.Even giving me rides to the train station in his Range Rover.

Not long after,I joined a signed/touring Swiss progressive rock band named
FLAME DREAM,that recorded 5 albums on Vertigo,Phonogram;and 1 on Phillips.PROGRESSIVEWORLD.NET: REVIEWS BY TOM KARR

Steve Hackett's producer,good friend England's John Acock,(Dick Cadbury,John Hackett,Rick Wakeman,Nick Magnus,Ian Mosley/Marillion,Adrian Legg),produced most of our albums;and we recorded mostly at Yes/Moody Blues keyboardist Patrick Moraz's studios in Geneva,Switzerland where most Europian progressive bands,fusion bands,musicians recorded.

As a youth I was a long time huge Genesis,Peter Gabriel,Brand X,Tony Banks;Steve Hackett including Phil listener/fan.
Listening hard to Germany's Manfred Eicher producer ECM label,Keith Jarrett,Jon Hiseman's Colosseum,Jon & Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia,Egg,National Health,Magma,OM,Curved Air,and a lot of Ollie Halsall and Allan Holdsworth...
(I have attended many shows of Genesis with Bruford,Brand X a lot with Phil & Percy Jones.
Happy The Man's Coco Roussel and I became friends/band mates.Allan Holdsworth and I became Californian friends;after writing me hurtful letters whilst I was in Flame Dream.)

(Check out Switzerland's FLAME DREAM If you like Mellotrons,Moog Taurus bass pedals,Yamaha CP80s,Gentle Giant,PFM,early Genesis,Van Der Graaf Generator,Tony Banks,Peter Gabriel;Steve Hackett,Jethro Tull,Chris Squire,Mike Rutherford,Rickenbacker 4003 bass,and awesome real European progressive rock at it's best)
Out In The Dark

I came late into this site for sure...

Cheers,Tschüß

Hello Dale;
And welcome to this discussion board. You are not alone loving Genesis.
I've been enjoying their music since my high school years. First concert I attended was 'Selling England by the Pound' and it left a lasting impression.

P.S. If I wanted to purchase 'Flame Dream' CDs, which ones are still available and where would I find them?

Thanks;
Marc
