Apparently either the blu-ray or the HD-DVD will be shelved. (The Highlander principle - there can be only one)

And for all those who jump directly to the forum and do not read the news (let's skip the news, boy, I'll make that tea) here is the bad news:

No BluRay version.
No HD-DVD version.

At least not for the release date of the "normal" DVDs. Perhaps later, but that depends on the market situation.

The lack of BluRay totally sucks!

Are they doing this so I end up buying 2 versions???

I'm VERY UNHAPPY with this decision.

So am I. My guess is the band (or the record company) are waiting to see which of the two formats is going to come out victorious. We will have to wait until then ... unless you are one of the lucky people who happen to have the high-resolution capture of the Düsseldorf gig (which I would like to stress again must not be traded by request of the Genesis management).

On the other hand: We do get a 3DVD set of a terrific tour - and who says you can't sell your "normal" tour DVD once the HD-DVD or BluRay comes out?

HD DVD is dead so the format war is over. Toshiba dropped support for the format and being that they were the only manufacturer (besides LG and Microsoft) fully pushing that hardware I believe the above statement to be true. So the real question is why no BluRay? I would say it is a fairly safe bet to say that a BluRay version will not be offered at any time in the near future. If you have a BluRay player it should do a fairly adequate job of upconverting the standard definition DVD. It would have been nice if they would have offered the BluRay. Incidently I was an early adapter to HD DVD via XBOX360 so I'm kinda bummed that that format is dead. I only got two concert DVDs in HD format - Eagles - Farewell 1 Tour (nearly unappreciable difference between Standard and HD DVD) and Cream - Royal Albert Hall (Absolutely glorious in HD DVD).

see link below for announcement about the death of HD DVD

The Look and Sound of Perfect - HD DVD
