Magenta / Annie Haslam / GENESIS

Magenta: A new prog-rock band from Britain with elements of Renaissance, Yes, Genesis, and Pink Floyd. Annie Haslam recently released a single with them.

Magenta : I almost forgot how POWERFUL their perfomance at NEARfest actually was.

BTW: Christine is STILL the stunning young lady posed with yours truly in the photograph first displayed when I turn on my cell phone. And it turns ME on every time.

I don't listen a lot to "neo-prog" but I bought the 2CD Home/New York Suite last year. It is very beautiful. Great album.

for a great live album get Another Time....Another Place. Double CD, impeccably recorded. I think "neo-prog" is a little limiting. Thier sound is certainly anchored in the 70s symphonic progressive sounds of Renaissance and Yes, but live they are a more modern hard rocking band, much meatier sounding live than on studio record. Fantastic performance at Nearfest this year.

" much meatier sounding live"???

Almost as if: " Stamped human bacon by some butchery tool" ,

but I wouldn't want to pigeon-hole them by putting them into some limiting "Musical-Box".

Besides, watching Christine move around onstage barefoot, shaking her tail as she faced away from the crowd
was an uplifting experience I shan't soon forget.
