Well I'm not a shrink but I sorta' understand how repeated mockery and rejection could/would lead to drug abuse and ultimately overwhelm an individual's drive to survive and ability to overcome adversity.

Let's see Marc, Cobain was a multi-millionaire who decided to drugs on his own. No one put drugs up or into him. He offed himself because he had some deeply mental problems that stemmed from things in his life, not his singing and guitar playing. From what I have read, he was a very disturbed man.

Was going to bed when I read this...could not agree with you more....there are so many talented musicians out there that don't 'make it' but still plod away in the bars, on the sidewalks...etc...but still they don't kill themselves...very difficult to feel sorry for this guy!!!
