The Watch

Hi,

I am new to the forum. I was hoping to find some comments or interests in the group The Watch, who I just discovered a couple of weeks ago through the Delicious Agony webcast. Their sound is incredible. Besides sounding exactly like the Genesis of the Gabriel/Hackett days, they put out a few albums of their own music, which sounds like incredibly like their influence as well. The Watch does everything on 1970s period instruments (mellotron, fuzz guitar, real drums). And I am re-discovering in The Watch the same sound I was hooked on in Genesis' Peter Gabriel days -- it's as though I am hearing their unreleased albums.

Check out their music at:

I gave "Ghost" a whirl this morning. I would not say that they sound exactly like Gabriel/Hackett Genesis....I am getting more of a...what if Fish replaced Gabriel in the Hackett era Genesis????? That singer to me sounds very much like Fish of Marillion fame without the Scottish brogue and not in the least like PG....band is like a hybrid Marillion/Genesis....good music nonetheless....thanks for the tip Bob-H...and welcome to the battle forum...

ps...he sounds like Michael Sadler of Saga somewhat for any Saga fans out there.....

Hi Bob, welcome to the funhouse!

I actually heard about The Watch a few months back, but never did follow up on them. Whether they sound like Gabriel, or Fish (withOUT the Scottish brogue, as Vince has indicated!), it should be interesting listening. I really want to check out the original material.

Thanks for the timely reminder; I'll have to take some time out soon to check them out.
