Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder affects men and women equally and usually appears between the ages of 15 and 25. The exact cause is unknown, but it occurs more often in relatives of people with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder results from disturbances in the areas of the brain that regulate mood. During manic periods, a person with bipolar disorder may be overly impulsive and energetic, with an exaggerated sense of self. The depressed phase brings overwhelming feelings of anxiety, low self-worth, and suicidal thoughts.

Bipolor, if treated, can mean a full and productive life. Some cases of Bipolor are a lot more extreme than others. It is true that this comes from Genetics, but, can also come from some extreme trama in someones life. So

I figured my sister was bipolar after the business I worked for at the time hired a part-time helper and her personality was identical, I could not believe it. No one at the business could understand her but me because I grew up with a person likewise. She said she was diagnosed early about 12yrs. maybe and her medication kept her from going from one extreme to the other. In our family we just acted like she was the odd duck and it was someone every family had. I don't know the differences between the sexes with symptoms. My sister was always affected by what others said no matter how much she accomplished. I think Peter does his own thing regardless and his mention of depression I feel is what some people have when there are few that can fathom that kinda of thinking which he possesses. To be great is to be misunderstood(Ralph Waldo Emerson).

Bipolar...?
What is that and how is it measured? Like most other human beings I have good days and bad days. So some days I might feel sad and other days I am joyful but I hardly consider myself to be Bi-Polar. It's gotta be one of those things conjured up by pharmaceutical companies to justify peddling drugs or therapy appointments. Don't mind me, I'm just a drunk! Marc |

Marc - Bipolar is not just a day to day bad day disease. It is a one second to one second time period. It is very complicated to explain, and no, I do not believe that the pharmaceutical companies are taking advantage of this terrible disease. If anything, they are helping in the treatment. I should know, I was diagnosed last year with Bipolar and have been on a treatment plan. I feel terrific and have not had any problems. Sure, I have my good days and my bad days. But, that has nothing to do with Bipolar.
