It is "Phil Collins" by Jürgen Seibold. I would call it a fan book, i.e. a book written for fans by someone who did some research but not enough to get all his facts right. Back in ... 1990 or so when I bought it this site did not exist yet and that sort of book was what you bought when you wanted to know more about your favourite star. It mentions Brand X, too, briefly, I think. It has been quite a while since I read it. Perhaps I will write a review about it. It is in German, though.
JJ, no need to worry. I have listened to Brand X. Years ago I bought Moroccan Roll, played it once, thought "Okay, wasted money.", put it on the shelf. Gave it another spin a couple of months later and it was "Yes, wasted money indeed. But this little bit sounds okay, actually." Cleaning up the CD shelf much later I found it again, listened to it again and suddenly it was "OMFG, this is HOT!" Unorthodox Behaviour followed soon, and I also have the widespread New York bootleg. It is quite difficult to get into Brand X, I think, unless you are perhaps a bit into jazz. Once you do, though, the hard work pays off.

Thumbs up Hot Night In Paris

I bought Unorthodox Behavior back in early 80's (83 to be exact and it was in a cutout bin - remember those - my best vinyl was found in those) and was mesmerized by it....to be quite honest I was 'smacked with euphoric hysteria' by it and have never fully recovered. For those who haven't given it a listen I would also recommend Phils Big Band - A Hot Night In Paris - VOA purchased it this summer and we were absolutely blown away by Los Endos Suite on this CD.

I was thinking that maybe a little Dance On A Volcano action could be included in this topic as well. I love the drums in this one too!
