Chuckle chuckle.

For the record I am not writhing in ecstacy because if this is true it means we will never get the five-man Genesis reunion tour.

I really want that tour to happen, even though I'm extremely unlikely to see it (can't imagine NZ will be on the list of venues somehow).

You see, I want the tour to happen for all my Genesis buddies - in particular the canadian charmer, the scouse siren and the south jersey jester.

Ahhh, how completely selfless I am!

Phil Collins announces musical retirement:

Phil Collins has announced that he is retiring from music.

Having completed a reunion tour with Genesis, the multi-instrumentalist has said in a newspaper interview that he has no plans to tour or make another album.

Collins told The Times that he will continue to write, simply because he does not know how to stop.

The interview quotes Collins as saying he is more interested in his collection of memorabilia from the Battle Of The Alamo than music.

Collins said: "It's not that unusual for a man of my age, who grew up reading Davy Crockett."

Collins was speaking ahead of his appearance on Sky Arts TV series 'Songbook'.

He re-ignited an old feud with Noel Gallagher. The Oasis man famously said ahead of the 2005 general election: "Vote Labour, if you don't and the Tories get in, (Collins) is threatening to come back from Switzerland, and none of us want that.

Collins said of the comment: "I don't care if he likes my music or not. I do care if he starts telling people I'm a wanker because of my politics. It's an opinion based on an old misunderstood quote."

I always held the faintest glimmer of hope for the 5 piece reunion SNOM. But apparently Phil was announcing his retirement all through the tour last year - with the exception of the Toronto show) where he simply said thank you to Chester and Daryl for all there years of playing with Genesis. I took that as a hint that Genesis would be back but just with a different line-up. So I was very dissapointed when I read on allmusic last week that Phil was retiring from the music business.

Cheers SNOM
Did I mention radiohead is coming to T.O. this summer? Oh --- did I mention The Stranglers in Liverpool?

I just can't "Imagine" SNOM being a Beatles fan. But I know how he loves his Radiohead and The Stranglers

Maybe SNOM isn't a Beatles fan (can't see why though!).... i was just making a comment about the "Imagine" concert....You mentioned The Stranglers playing in L/pool, I just thought i'd plug that as well...

Yep I like the Beatles. not a massive fan though.

I'm praying that Radiohead will come to NZ on this tour. They've announced dates in Japan and bands who play there often make the extra few miles to get to Australasia. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like PG has scuppered the chance of the five-man reunion. I don't blame Phil Collins if he's decided to quit. Why should he hand around and wait for Gabriel.

The 'time' was a year or so back when they all got together to talk about a reunion. Gabriel said no thanks and now it's never going to happen. It's a shame but on the other hand it might be a blessing as it may not have lived up to our expectations.
