great interview, thanks for this!

I find it quite interesting how he seems to struggle with his past regarding Genesis but always find something pleasurable about it in the end.

also, his rough opinion about the Calling All Stations B-sides suprised me a bit

While I enjoy Banjo Man and like some of the other B-sides, I can understand Ray's p.o.v. that, yes, they recorded these bits at one point and found they weren't good enough (or perhaps, they weren't *Genesis* enough) to put on the album or release as a single A-side.

Sign Your Life Away in particular sounds like the result of Ray saying "Okay, I do it your way on the album and on the tour and everywhere else, let's try and find out what it sounds like when we do it my way."

These b-sides are perhaps like the younger sibling to Match Of The Day and Pigeons. Perhaps quite fun to play and to toy with, but nothing you'd want to have on CD for the rest of your life.

BTW, who actually wrote the lyrics for Banjo Man? Who told the truth here?

the lyrics of BANJO MAN are Ray's - that's probably why he hates it that much

the lyrics could also have been written by Des'Ree

"doop dub dub doop"

Thanks for the great interview! I hope in the future that Ray will get bigger crowds so that he can extend his tours to other parts of the world. I also hope he never stops playing Genesis tunes in-between his solo material. He really sounds fantastic on both. I wish him all the best with his music and hope to see him live one day in the future.

I agree to Charmaine

But I find it a bit confusinf what he does with this Stiltskin project. it seems to me that he has to deal with a lot of rubbish he doesn't want to deal with. So I hope that he will have a major record deal one day to get rid of those issues.

And I hope he'll be down under one day...

Now that's kinda harsh, innit? I happen to like Banjo Man, always suspected these were Ray's lyrics. It sounds very much like a comment on what was going on at the time. I wonder if he way really happy during his time with (not in) Genesis. He mentioned in the interview that things went steeply downhill once his time with Genesis ended, but what about before that?
It seems to me that he always got the "Genesis and, oh, yeah, this Ray dude" treatment. On the other hand, is it actually possible to become a part of a thing you revere?
