Well, anyone that says to the press"You have to think twice about something that was BACKWARD LOOKING", seems to already have his mind made up. Like Squonkman said, just say no and get on with it!

We will all be dead before this guy ever makes a commitment to this. Excuse after excuse after excuse. I can only conclude he is afraid he can't do it anymore and it won't live up to his expectations. Anyone who rerecords virtually ALL his vocals on the Shrine Lamb show on Archive 1 is just too much a control freak to make this work. The guy is extremely talented and I love his social commitment and most of his music, but quit jacking around us Genesis fans once and for all Peter. If you are just afraid to step up to the plate and celebrate Genesis' great legacy, just say so once and for all.
Oh well that looks like it's the end of that then!
Thanks for that link squonkman,
My oh my what is pete's problem,
I'm sort of starting to see why Phil gets so pissed off now,
us fans have always put Pete on a pedestal, & yet where is he when we really want him!
At least phil came back, yes granted with a couple of cheesy songs but hey we all need a toilet break!
at least he showed his long time loyalty to us & the band.

Pete your like " the fool in the pool, who's incredibly cool" ,
such a shame!!

what Peter doesn't seem to get yet, is that not all Genesis fans are necessarily Gabriel fans (the latecomers in the 80s who like the pop hits, Phil etc), but certainly all Gabriel fans are Genesis fans too. Who does he think buys his albums? He's got this hangup like he would become an "oldies" act if he "looked backward" for a bit or something. My gosh, every great artist worth his salt recognizes and celebrates their own legacies, or it become meaningless..... look at Dylan, the Stones, Neil Young, Springsteen, Roger Waters, Gilmour etc etc. Waters just got done replaying the whole Dark Side album live. If those Genesis songs are great art and MEAN something, they are worth looking backward to. If you can't commit to it Peter because you don't want to look backward, aren't you insulting or questioning your own legacy, and in the process insulting and questioning all us Genesis fans loyalty and taste in music for wanting to hear this great music live again?
Think about it......rant over.

I admit, I do like the way Phil has taken Peter's versions and made them his own. But I do also like the original versions as well. And Peter of all people should realize that he has made great lyrics and music that touched us fans. Yes, we are the people that buy his albums. I do not believe the children of now do?

I just listened to this so called interview - I'm no expert on voice analysis, but to me this guy sounds nothing like the Peter Gabriel that I'm familiar with. Either the dude that is portrayed in this interview is an imposter (however poor), or our man Peter has been dumbed down by about 50 points on IQ scale. I believe some sort of conspiracy is afoot. This guy sounded (to me anyway) like he was either really drunk (or drugged/sedated), or just plain dumb and very boring. Peter has always been a lot more articulate in any interviews I've heard with him. If this is the real (rael) Gabriel, maybe he doesn't deserve to re-unite with Genesis. I don't want to see a Genesis re-union with a dead beat like this guy leading them. I'd rather have a memory of my last concert with any form of Genesis left as it stands. My two cents worth. (and I am [perhaps was is more appropriate] a die-hard Gabriel fan).
If it is the real Gabriel he can shove the re-union idea his backside. This guy is no where near smart enough to be making the comments he is making (backward looking indeed). I'll have no part of it if/when it happens. Do I seem a little pissed off? You read me right. If Gabriel is ill or something (mentally/physically or bipolar), I sincerely apologize for writing this.

...While he is still saying no about Genesis, we are still WAITING for your next Solo album Mr. Gabriel!

I just listened to the Planet Rock interview, he is very much the politician is'nt he? basically he is re-wording what he said on the reuters interview. He has NOT said no, all he did was respond to a weak question on the reunion. He knows there is a lot of work involved and because of projects he obviously is not able to commit at this time, (which we already know). So personally I still think he is up for it. I think we all have to read between the lines here and take any media information with a pinch of salt. Remember we know a hell of a lot more about genesis than the everyday interviewer or media writer. Let Peter play his mind games, remember that the other guys are just as good at masking the truth when it comes to things like this!

Wow. I don't get his deal either. I think also it will be a long time until we see the early years box set release because you know who will procratinate on OKing the "backwards" looking thing. Lets just hope he doesn't want to rerecord all his vocals like he did on the Shrine show on Archive 1.

Jeez Louise....I was serious though about it not sounding much like Our Blessed Angel Gabriel by golly. Sounded more like Percy (or other englishman of your choice) down at the pub who emigrated to Canada/US 35 years ago but still has the accent like he just fell out of the boat like yesterday (still likes his beers warm and bangers and mashed with mushy peas...facetious tone intended). I'm sick of waiting for everything from this dude (but will still be first in/online for tickets to his next NA tour). It's a love-hate relationship. Hope 46664 on Dec. 4 will be televised/DVD'd and offered up some time this decade.

Yea, I agree with you about the rerecording crap. What is up with that?
