Genesis to Play O2 London in September?

There's a rumor flying around the Movement posted by someone quoted saying:

Talking to My Mate from the O2 again this weekend and he reckons Genesis have reserved the venue for some September shows!

Normally, I don't post anything from the rumor mill, but I found this to be quite interesting. First, while there's really nothing to justify the theory, it's easy to look at it as "inside info". Several factors at play make this claim quite plausible:

-Pete's album should have been finished by now, and I would expect it to be out within the 2008 year.

-Led Zeppelin did their "big comeback" at the O2 back in December, and being such a high-profile venue, it would not surprise me if any band were to follow that trend, one of those being Genesis.

-The 1970-1975 Box Set is due out in September.

If this is true, the stars are aligning and looking very bright. Now, it wasn't made clear the show would be with Pete, but at the same time, what purpose would Genesis possibly have taking eleven months off and returning with the same lineup as now?

Pete said 2009 at the earliest, does this not look like an opportunity to essentially "test the waters"?

I really believe this is something worth discussing. If I didn't see any purpose for it, then I wouldn't have posted it...

How did fans hear about the then-potential Genesis reunion back in 2006? Rumors. How does a band know what their fans are looking for? Discussions and rumors...

Plus, what else is there to talk about these days, anyway?

Thats not the first time i have heard that rumour about Genesis & the O2...Hmmm... makes you wonder, could it be possible?
I guess we had just better watch this space!.....Here's hoping anyway!!

Really? It's the first I've heard of it, and if you have before, then it has to be making the rounds.

It really DOES make you wonder. Zep announced their show back in July at O2, perhaps we'll get Genesis sometime in May, if it is true.

Genesis doesn't seem to want to release a boxed set without supporting it by a tour. By pushing it to September, it adds a whole lot more room for speculation

Zach there could be some truth in what your claiming, the fact that the box set release date has been put back & then this rumour flying round about the O2 does make you question the possibilty of another show/s....All we can do is hope & wait.....I don't want to start building my hopes up for the fear of being bitterly disappointed.
So for now i will just sit on the fence & keep my fingers crossed

I can agree with that. It's all coming together, but it's best not to get hopes up anyway.

I waited for six years for Van Halen and David Lee Roth reunion, believed all those rumors and everything regarding it, and didn't get it until last year. And it wasn't even a REUNION

I have Rush to look forward to, twice in June. So if Genesis didn't happen I wouldn't be TOO heartbroken. Regardless, this is THE reunion I'm looking forward to now, whenever it may happen, aside from Zep...
