SH @ Night of the Prog Fest In Germany

Hi all,

I'm a noobie I'm afraid, I just wandered over here to see if any of you lovely folk were coming to the Night of the Prog Festival @ Loreley in Germany to see Steve & band........ I couldn't see any mention of the festival any where though.

Here is a link for the festival info page

less than 2 weeks to go until the festival, I've been before and it's always great fun with a lovely atmosphere, good line up of bands too!

Hope to see some of you there!

I would go - it is a great location, great line-up, too. Unfortunately I can't get the time off. But since you said you've been there before, how big a festival is it? Are we talking an audience of 1,000 or ten thousand or ...?

Well last time I was there is was about 3.5 thousand, big enough to be fun, small enough to be friendly!

I think they are expecting about 3thousand each day this year. (or more) It is a stunning venue, I'm going to be meeting up with friends from Sweden, Holland, Gemany and France and I think it's going to be a blast! I am SO looking forward to seeing Steve, I've not seen him live before (other than a short accoustic thing about 20 years ago) so REALLY looking forward to it!

You are going to enjoy his gig tremendously! I saw him play live for the first time earlier this year at the Steve Hackett Event we put together in Remscheid, GER. (And a signed copy of the event poster hangs proudly in my living-room).

More about the Steve Hackett Event here: Hackett Event in Germany

Yeah I read that thread about the event before I joined up here, it's why I joined really because it looked like some people didn't know about the Loreley thing and I hate it when you miss a show because you just don't know about it! (It happened to me recently, I missed a Gary Moore show, just because I hadn't been aware it was on)

There is a great festival line up, I am expecting there to be mucho singing, and beer drinking!

Tell me about it! I missed Genesis on the CAS tour 1998, and they were playing literally half a mile from my place.

Here's an impression of Steve's performance at this year's Night Of The Prog festival:

YouTube - Steve Hackett - Firth Of Fifth (Loreley 2009)

A forum member who was there reports:
Quote:
Steve played a terrific gig on Saturday. They band were at their very best and even conquered some technical difficulties.

Steve lived up to the spirit of a prog festival and played a choice selection of classics: Not only did he perform solo gems like Spectral Mornings or Every Day and tracks from his debut album, his set was also littered with Genesis classics: Firth Of Fifth - in full glory with the piano intro, Horizons, Blood On The Rooftops, Fly On A Windshield, Los Endos with the beautiful Moonlit Knight intermezzo...

I don't remember what else I have forgotten, but simply ruled. And Nick Beggs on bass, now he looked like a dominatrix: Hair dyed blonde in braids and a leather outfit complete with a skirt. Hard to believe he's actually a guy.
Nick Beggs can be seen in the video... He's the black blob on the right
