Watcher Of The Skies
You know, looking at the track list for the "Extras" disc in this 1970-75 box set, I am seeing that it omits the "Watcher Of The Skies" remix. Not actually a "Remix" of the album version, it's a re-recording, with audibly different guitar parts and a completely different ending. This is a track that I first heard YEARS ago on the UK album "Rock Theatre". It was subsequently included on the first "Archives" box, which was beautiful.
But why is it not on the "Extras" disc? I find it hard to believe that they ran out of space. Is this an oversight? Or is this some intentional omission to keep the Archive 1 box set necessary for the rabid "completist"? I gotta say, I've been a HUGE fan of Genesis since I was in friggin' High School. I absolutely love their music. But, with the way "The Lamb Lies Down ..." was remastered (with a 'fade in' for the title track -- which has GOT to be rectified with this box set release!); with the fact that they couldn't see fit to include the "Match of the Day" video with the "1976-82" box set (when they included a horribly-distorted, LESS than quality bootleg of them lip-synching a song from the Mike Douglas show); and NOW, omitting the "Watcher of the Skies" re-recording from what some may consider to be the "definitive" Genesis release, I HAVE to say that their back-catalogue has been handled with a certain amount of sloppiness -- OR editorial decisions have been made with little consideration for the real Genesis "fanatics". I'll STILL buy this 1970 - 75 box set -- I've GOT to hear those new recordings included on the "Extras" disc -- but I wish they would pay a LITTLE more attention to detail when they finalize their decisions. And HOW ABOUT a BBC tracks compilation????? Thanks (again!) for letting me vent a little. Jersey Joker |

Again, BBC isn't happening because of money issues (apparently the Beeb knows they can charge big bucks for Genesis recordings).
Fade-in Lamb.. I can live with either version. Genesis could easily fill another box set with edits, re-recordings, mixes, re-mixes and whatnot. For myself, I am happy that we are spared such dubious gems like the 12" mixes from Archive II. Apart from that: You want completeness? Sorry mate, that one went out of the window with the second box when all those CAS b-sides weren't included.

He hasn't been ganged up on at all. JJ and I are having an argument, discussion, whatever. It's TWO on one on me brother, but that is ok. No harm no foul. We will agree to disagree. This is a discussion, no more, no less. I did not at one time think he was any of those fools previous because JJ is actually adding DECENT convo to this forum, which is what it needs. BTW, I didn't say I have the original cassette, and I should have clarified, sorry about that. I have the 94' cassette releases! Obviously from Genesis(83) on, I have the original cassettes. On that version, it fades in! IMO

LOL Pigeon, that figures. That is too funny. Go tell your pretend friends Mike and Jimmy Page about the forum. You can't just come onto a forum and say I am a person who knows people. Just doesn't work like that!!! Once again, people need to realize that it isn't WHAT is said, but HOW it is said. JerseyJoker, there is nothing wrong with ya mate, and hope you come back.
Anyway, Martinus, what BBC we talking about. All of those recordings that were not included on the box?

Oh, and while we're at it: I know John Mayhew and Armando Gallo and Ray Wilson and Dale Newman and I have had lotsa drinks with them, so there. What did the people in this forum do in school when someone showed off? They probably ignored it and talked to the show-off about other things if he seemed like a decent bloke apart from that. Sometimes the things we learned in school are useful.

Yes that is what we are talking about. Anyway, coming from you who didn't gloat, is more feasable. Whether it is true or not **shrugs shoulders**. Know what I mean. Once again, there is a difference in the way YOU say it and they way others say it. 'Course you are the moderator
P.S. So you know two guys who were on ONE album, and two guys who were not in the band

Because your pompous!! Here is my impression of your posts. "Phil sucks now, I can drum the whole catelogue perfectly....now that goes to, I am going to tell Mike and Jimmy Page that this forum has a bunch of jerks on it," WHEN YOUR THE ONE BEING THE JERK.
BOX SET STUFF - Here is something we all overlooked a bit, including me. The Lamb Slides, do you think they will change with the music when you play it on the DVD. I have seen the TMB doing the LLDOB and the slides are soo cooooollll!!!
