One question, does anyone knows if the box sold at Amazon fr is a localized french version? I could really use the extra 20 to make up for shipping costs.

I'm waiting for the North American version. They have an NTSC/SACD version released in Japan but it's not worth the extra price. I don't need SACDs that bad. The 5.1 mixes in DTS on a DVD is fine by me.

The North American SACD version of the box is selling for 155 some odd dollars on the official store. It is fantastic compared to the 233 dollars Amazon is charging for the same box. Thought it would help your listings to add that little fact on here. I originally ordered it from Amazon, but when I was told it was backordered till Novemeber I cancelled it and ordered it from the official store, and then realized I was saving almost 100 dollars. FANTASTIC!

I have mine already, it is a great box again. The diverse albums sound perfect especially We can't dance. The extra's are again wonderfull. Ok, in the first box there was a bit more. But it is his money worth again.

Is it just me, or has anyone else decided not to buy this rubbish? I bought the Turn It On Again Tour Edition CD, and the mastering is so BAD (constantly loud, compressed, flat, harsh, just horrible to listen to, just like most releases of the last few years) that I realised this box set would sound just as bad - if not worse - than the last one.
It's not just the mastering either. The multi-band compression on the individual tracks (vocals, keyboards, etc.) is very apparent - there's no natural tone to anything, no warmth, no dynamics at all. Ugh. It makes me sick that my favourite music has been made so soulless! Just digital, sterile, cold sound. Horrible.

Hmm I felt the exact opposite. I think they sound fantastic. Have you just listened to the new Stereo Mixes or the Surround as well!

Just heard the stereo mixes as my room is not condusive to a surround system.
Nevertheless, one would expect the stereo mixes to be treated to an excellent and sympathetic mastering, which has not been the case. The stereo mixes just sound flat and cold and harsh, and completely lacking in dynamics or warmth (and I have quite a warm sounding system). Abacab - from the middle box - is a very good example of an album that was previously very punchy and dynamic, and is now just lifeless.

I have also heard from a small minority that the surround mix is a little over-compressed (although most seem to love it, to be fair).

When I first heard the TIOA Tour Edition CD, I was honestly completely disgusted with the results, so pledged not to get the 80's boxset.
The original TIOA CD actually sounds very nice by comparison (this one was not mastered by Tony Cousins, which may be a factor - not criticising him, it's just he may have a different mastering style that I particularly despise).
