Nick thinks that the late release date of the Gabriel era albums could coincide with the 5 piece reunion in 2008. This is just a thought, not a fact!

16th October 2006, updated 17th October: There are two new things rumoured at the moment. A belgian website assumes a Genesis gig in Paris (30th June 2007, Parc des Princes). This is unconfirmed at the moment. Also, the location of THE Jam-Session seems to be revealed. According to the website of the guitarist of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO), Genesis are rehearsing in the same studio as the TSO - in the Spin Recording-Studios in Astoria, Queens County (NY).

7th October 2006: Peter Gabriel has revealed that Tony, Mike and Phil are indeed jamming at the moment. Peter said in his most recent Full Moon Club Video, that he is not involved in this round but he also doesn't rule out the possibility of a future involvement. The October jam session was announced by Phil a few month a go and has been subject to a lot of discussions since then. >> Discuss this in our FORUM
4th October 2006: Tony Smith, Genesis' manager, adressed all fans today not to buy any tickets - "We have noticed; subsequent to the unconfirmed Sunday Mirror article last week; that there are one or two firms advertising tickets for future Genesis shows. DO NOT BUY any tickets from any of these people as no dates have been booked and therefore any ticket sales are a scam". >> Discuss this in our FORUM
2nd October 2006: Various online news-sites and british newspapers report that Genesis will reunite as a trio in 2007, according to "spokesmen" and "friends" of the band. There is no official word from the band's management yet. >> Discuss this in our FORUM
11th September 2006: After the summer has been extremely quiet, rumours now start to spread again. Dutch concert ticket site Topevent-Tickets announces a Genesis Tour with Phil Collins for 2007. People can already register and reserve tickets. Meanwhile, it is still nott sure whetheer or not the announced Jam session of Tony, Mike and Phil wil take place this October or not. So the announcement on this dutch website does not seem to be more then just yet another ticket seller trying to find new customers by announcing a spectacular tour. >> Discuss this in our FORUM
22nd May 2006: Yet another new information from the Collins Tarzan-Interview-Marathon: Phil told the Chicago Broadway World that the first plan would still be to reunite the classic line-up in a couple of years, which might be hard to realise due to all commitments of the five guys. But Phil also said that he could imagine doing something with Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford instead, in case Peter is unavailable. Also, Phil revealed that the "Genesis Trio" has scheduled studio time in October for jam sessions. No further plans are made, though. >> Discuss this in our FORUM
13th May 2006: Once more a statement from Phil Collins. In a recent statement at 6Music in New York City (USA), Phil explained that a reunion is still likely. Nevertheless, due to other commitments Peter has until the end of 2007, a Reunion won't happen before 2008. Collins told the Toronto Star, that the five original members of Genesis are "moving toward the possibility".
20th April 2006: Alan Hewitt has recently interviewed Steve Hackett and this is what Steve replied being asked about the SACDs and a possible reunion: Unfortunately I'm not in a position to...I comment on things and I think that masses of the stuff has had a fantastically good job done on it and one or two things are still in a state of conjecture but I have no idea when that stuff is to be released......and of course the ideal time would be if there was a band reformation but I don't think anyone is any the wiser. The band isn't any the wiser than the fans are and so with regards to that we have all given our pitch and let's just say that most of us are hoping it is going to come off. I would love to be able to say 'Yes, I'll be there on Thursday!' It is the question on everyone's lips, including mine. If it doesn't happen, I won't be to blame.
18th April 2006: Good news again: Phil Collins revealed in a recent radio broadcast on KGO NewsTalk that the band met in November 2005 and that they have discussed a reproduction of the live show of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. This would be "for a limited run of shows" and these shows would be "recorded and filmed". Collins also said that the band is "very enthusiastic about the idea" and that they will try to find the time to realise it. Go to the Downloads-Section to download the snippet.
29th March 2006: Bad news for all reunion fans. Being asked about a reunion, Peter Gabriel himself declared in Aachen yesterday (where he accepted the innovation award from the Ludwig Foundation) during an open talk that there are no such plans. He also said that they [Genesis] have actually been talking about it but he prefers to try new things instead of reliving the past.
13th March 2006: After the british tabloid press has spread the rumour about a possible press-conference, now also musicnews.virgin.net reports that Genesis will reform to record a new album and go on tour. There is no official word from any of the members yet, but Virgin is Genesis' record company that is now part of EMI. Anyway, later today Annie Callingham from the Phil Collins Management confirmed that rumours about a possible press conference are NOT true.
11th March 2006: The british yellow press reports that Genesis will reform and record a new album and they will go on tour with it. A press conference on wednesday, 15th March, is also mentioned. This "news" has only been published in tabloid magazines, newspapers and / or websites so it is very likely that this is acutally a canard.
19th Feb 2006: Latest rumours report about a meeting between Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel in Switzerland. There might have been a discussion about a reunion and / or possible tour in late 2006 / early 2007. Further rumours report that lighting and stage-designers have started work on a new live-show of Genesis. This has not been officially confirmed by Genesis or Peter Gabriel.
1st Dec 2005: Both the Genesis and the Steve Hackett Management told the Italian Fanclub DUSK that there are no plans for any kind of action (Reunion, live performances) for the next twelve months. This indicated that the protagonists will meet again in twelve months to discuss the possibilities for a reunion in 2007. It seems that the different commitments, especially of Gabriel and Collins, simply make a Reunion in 2006 impossible. Meanwhile, the mysterious Reunion-Talk took place on November 19, not the 20th as rumoured before.
19th Nov 2005: One day before the potential reunion talk, Peter Gabriel’s homepage attempts to calm and lower expectations. However, nothing is ruled out. Official statements after the talk may turn out to be most interesting.
10th Nov 2005: Peter Gabriel repeatedly confirms that talks about a possible reunion will take place soon. He also stressed that such a project would take up a lot of time. Chances for a reunion are apparently better than ever before. On October 22, 2005, Peter had only confirmed the meeting in the t.v. show "Extra". "Reunion Talks are imminent" are his words now as reported by the Rolling Stone.
30th Sep 2005: “There Is Something Afoot”, Steve Hackett says. For the first time a former member of Genesis announces that something in the way of a reunion may be approaching. He explained that the management had invited them all for a meeting to consider a reunion. His statements, given alongside his current acoustic tour raises hopes that Genesis may show some life again.
24th Feb 2005: Phil Collins performs with the Canadian cover band The Musical Box in Geneva. He plays the drums for the encore song, The Musical Box. Later he explains that he used to be quite a different musician back then, but that he still enjoyed it. All in all, his guest performance not only raised hopes but also chances for a reunion. Read the Phil Interview here.
October 2004: Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford meet in Cologne, Germany, to promote the European release of the Platinum Collection. Rumour has it that a tour and even an album were discussed. Phil later confirms that they had talked about a reunion, but decided not to go for it.
