The area around the Gugl will be closed to cars during big events. “We will implement the concept we used for the Bon Jovi concert in 2006 for the Genesis concert on Jun 19 without any changes,” says councillor Himmelbauer (Green party) whose portfolio is traffic. Traffic will be comprehsenively shut out from the area around the stadium and the Intersport Arena. The expected crowds are to use public transportation. Only locals, buses, taxis, disabled people and VIP may enter the area. The frequency of public buses from Central Station and Taubenmarkt to the stadium will be increased.

Further measures:

The concert ticket shall be valid as a public transportation ticket.
The underground car parks at the LDZ, the station and hotel Ibis are to be used by visitors.

The traffic control plans could not forestall a total collapse of traffic. When 32,000 rock fans made their way to the stadium bot public and individual traffic broke down completely. During the peak time traffic jams reached as far back as the western motorway.
