Genesis: Early setlist in the book “Anatomy Of A Tour”
It seems that the advertised book (link in German) has now reached the merchandising stands of the tour. Interestingly, there is a copy of an e-mail Tony Banks sent to stage designer Patrick Woodruffe in it. Dating from February 20, 2007, it mentions a preliminary set list for the tour with a couple of comments:
Duke intro
TIOA
No Son
Cage / Cinema Show / Afterglow
Hold on my Heart
Jesus he knows me
Firth of Fifth instrumental
Follow You

In too Deep*
That’s All*

Mama
Throwing it all Away
Home by the Sea
Drum duet
Los Endos
I Can’t Dance
Encores:
TTT
Invisible Touch
???
* Banks adds “US only, optional, vary with Hold on / Carpet?”

please guys if you interview them again people in the US do NOT want to hear In Too Deep… Ripples better stay on the setlist !!!
Is there any reason they couldnt play both?
IN Too Deep is 4 minutes long for Chrissake:) we dont need to hear hold on my heart, no son of mine, throwing it all away , invisible touch and all those other hits ! its not like their promoting those albums any more.. if they want to bring back a few hits.. how bout Thats All and Misunderstanding? they havent played them in awhile.. We’re paying $150 a ticket i want my Ripples ..as well as anything from TOTT, W&W AND ATTW3!

In Tony/Mikes interview recently Tony alluded to the fact that In too Deep was a bigger hit in America than Ripples. (Talk about a band that is out of touch with its fanbase). Well, Ripples happens to have been my very first exposure to Genesis, and the song that got me interested in Genesis in the first place. To hell with the hits, play what your true fans want to here. It will pay off in appreciation/applause. We need to here these tunes live —– please. I’d personal like to here Entangled, Many Too Many, Burning Rope, and other songs of this caliber rathe than the drivel Tony thinks we want to here. We can here th greatest hits on the classic pop/easy listening radio stations any day of the week. Do not disappoint us. None of the true classic acts simply play their greatest hits live (ie Bowie, Waters, Stones, Gabriel). Hope someone is listening.
