UK76’s TRAVELS: We’re back!

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

UK76s Travels Yesterday morning, the day of the first Philly show, I did some sightseeing first. Philadelphia has a few really nice places. So I started with the Historic District where you find places like Indepence Hall or Liberty Bell. For lunch I had a typical Philadelphia cheese steak. Not the healthiest of meals but it tastes really good!

Towards the evening I headed down to the sports complex with Wachovia Center. First of all I wanted to pick up my will call tickets. They had a little trouble to find them (I guess it might have been because tickets were sold through Ticketmaster and Comcast). Finally I got them but I was told that I had to show up every night to collect my tickets. I had hoped to get all tickets at once. Hopefully tonight they find my ticket easier…

As usual I met quite a bunch of people before the show. This time I was seated in the left front block on the floor about halfway back. This made for a nice total view of the stage. But still I rather enjoy being up front. During a walk-around in front of the stage I had a look at “Phil’s little helpers”. He has got three laminated sheets at the edge of the stage with a few helping words for Mama, Ripples and Hold On My Heart. I probably post the photos I took of them when I’m back home.

Around 8.20pm “Dead Already” sounded throughout the gigantic arena (a capacity of about 20,000 people!). No real surprises again, I only noticed that Phil’s voice wasn’t on top that night but it got better during the show. The audience was very good and it was fun spotting especially one guy on the lower level who was strangely dancing all time. He really seemed to be having the time of his life!

This morning I went for sightseeing once more. This time I walked up the Benjamin Franklin Parkway towards the Art Museum. That’s the place where Rocky Balboa aka Sylvester Stallone ran up the stairs in the famous movie! There’s also a Rocky statue right next to those stairs. Just when I started walking back I bumped into Daryl Stuermer! We talked for a short while and then I continued my walk through the city. So here I am now back at the hotel. Will go out for lunch soon and then drive down to Wachovia Center once again. Judging from what Daryl told me they most likely won’t change the set at all. So it will be Hold On My Heart again and not the rumoured In Too Deep.

Bye for now, might post another update tomorrow.
