UK76’s TRAVELS: Episode III of the Philadelphia Trilogy
Friday, September 21st, 2007 “We’re back… if only for a little while.” That was Phil’s introduction to the last Philadelphia show last night. Whatever that means. The show itself was the best North American show I’ve seen so far and a little bit better than quite a few European gigs. It seemed they let loose last night and just played straight from the heart. Some of the songs were noticeably more powerful than on the other nights. And again the audience didn’t disappoint. That was maybe the best Philly crowd this time.
Before the gig I met up for a tailgating party with a bunch of members of the official forum. The weather was warm, dry and sunny once again. So it really made for a nice outdoor warm-up. The show itself didn’t have special incidents or surprises. But as I said before it was just great! Before Carpet Crawlers Phil thanked the audience for three great nights in Philadelphia and that they have always had a great time here and a very special support ever since they first played here in the early 1970’s. Phil’s voice though had noticeably suffered from his cold and the 3-shows-in-3-days run. But still he sang like he had nothing to lose. I hope he didn’t ruin his voice for Columbus. At least there’s a day off today to recover a little.
So now it’s Friday morning 10.15am and I will take the train to Baltimore soon. I’m flying out of Baltimore/Washington Airport tonight back to Frankfurt via Keflavik. A short night for me. I took about 1,000 pictures this time and hope to post them in the gallery pretty soon.
My next concert will be San Jose, California on October 9th. Only a bit more than 2 weeks to go!
