Hi Ulli:

Wow, and I thought I was a fan. Congrats and you are a lucky man. I was able to see just one concert of this tour and I regret I did not go to two other concerts in my area, but well…I hope they continue this SOS either in Europe or South America and I can go see them.

I don’t mean to be personal but curiosity is killing me really, how did you find the time (and financed) your own “tour” following a tour.? I really admire your determination.

Another question, what was Phil’s reaction when you told him you saw them 24 times on the same tour. That really deserves at least a signed tambourine ha ha ha. Seriously, was he amazed?

Ulli, your ‘diary’ of each event is unbelievably insightful. I think Phil, Mike, and Tony should be giving you a lifetime pass to anything that that happens in Genesis-land for all eternity. As a fan myself, I’ve looked forward to reading each one of your entries over the last several months…and as a result, I feel like I’ve toured with the band throughout the two continents. In reality, I was only able to make the first LA show (heavy downpours and all) - but have attended one show in each of the past three or four tours (my last before this one was at Dodgers Stadium, Los Angeles). So, BRING ON THE ROME DVD huh? Perhaps I’ll be seeing you in the front rows. Thanks.

@ Paul:
I managed to arrange all my annual leave days (30 working days in total) so that it worked out with the tour. Now there’s not a single day left. For the financial aspect, I won’t give out numbers but I can assure you that you would probably be surprised that it wasn’t as much as you would expect. I really tried to keep costs as low as humanly possible. No doubt the money I’ve spent is still a lot but I’ve been saving it over the years.

Phil was really astonished by the number of shows! He had his eyes wide opened and asked if I was “just” talking about the current tour. When I said yes he was even more surprised. Didn’t get a tambourine though.

Hi Ulli and all other fans.

It´s been great reading all entries. I “only” attended the show in Herning myself and had an amazing time +
of course the Encore cds to relive the concert again and again and…

The stories you´ve been writing have made me feel like being almost there (all the shows you´ve seen) and especially the last leg of the tour has made interresting images pop up in my mind

Truly it´s been a lot of fun and hopefully we´ll hear more from you in the future.

Thanks for your reply. Again, I really admire your determination and how you where able to work out all the details to follow the G-men around the world and your notes in the log are great.

Now, start accumulating vacation days, hopefully next year the continue their tour down South and Asia and you can keep traveling.

BTW, I am thinking about hiring you as my travel consultant ha ha ha. Seriously, well done..

Ulli,i would like to say,thank you for all your insight into the concerts,and the daily pains,sometimes,in travelling all over Europe and the U.S. Ihope you enjoyed our country,and coultral.It would be great to read about if you were able to ask the band some questions about the future(possible albums,more “selections”of shows),do you think this is their round about way of saying,HEY WERE BACK,get familiar with our work,cause were gonna be around for awhile to come.Also,it would be nice to be able to talk with you,either through e-mail or letter or phone,cause if they do another selection,im coming to your neck of the woods,and hanging out with the second biggest Genesis fan(im #1 of course)(:>). Great read again Ulli….I managed 13 shows….our paths crossed a few times…..and infact we briefly met in Berlin as I bought your extra ticket from you….my total Genesis shows are up to 72…..and I think our paths will cross again. Thanks again for your reports…..now get saving for the next tour!

The meet & greet was very short (maybe 5 minutes) and there was about a dozen fans to deal with. So I just had time to briefly chat with Phil. Didn’t have the time to ask anything about future plans and I think it wouldn’t have been the most appropriate thing to ask at such an occassion.

It’s been compulsive reading, following your adventures across Europe and the U.S.
I only got to attend one show (Manchester) but i felt as if i attended them all, what with your memorable reviews, stories and photos!
Fair play to you for all the determination and commitment it took to embark on this journey following Genesis on tour.
This blog is by far the most up-to-date and informative on the web about Genesis- largely thanks to you!
The official site should take note.

Hi Ulli!

I had the chance to see the guys playing in Washinton DC on September 23, and it was an unforgettable experience !!

I wish I had the chance to meet and greet the band in a pre or after show there but I couldn’t figure it out how to get that. Maybe next time, and with your experience and colaboration, I would make it…

Let me tell you that it´s been great reading all your entries. The stories you´ve been writing have made us feel like being almost there.

I looking forward to meeting you if the band decide to come down to South America someday and obviously you also decide to complete your marathon coming here!!

Forget about the hotel. My home will be your home.
