That survey shows how much nonsense has been written about set lists from some of the Old Guard. Given that the band needed to satisfy a wide variety of fans of all eras, I think they got pretty close to pleasing as many people as possible.

Given the fact that this survey (the results of it) is nearly identical to what Genesis actually played, I wouldn't say it is nonsenss, I'd rather state that Genesis did a great job...

I couldn't agree more Christian - Genesis did a fantastic job - it was the best set I have ever seen them do "live".

And that goes back to the early 80's - and includes the Milton Keynes gig. The point I was making is that many of the comments from certain quarters did not take into account the dilemma that Genesis always face -"How do you provide a set that pleases all eras given the diversity of material?". The result - well pretty much what you got in 2007!

Agreed, but you, in my opinion, are way too biased against Peter Gabriel. He did not tour with Genesis because he had plans of his own, and he had every right to have such plans. It was the 25th Anniversary of WOMAD, and although he initially planned to play at the WOMAD festival only, I think it was more than appropriate for him to do a summer tour. I doubt that the thought of "oh, I'll try to get over on Genesis by playing a fan-chosen set" was really in his mind. He's not in competition with them, it's not about that. It's merely about music.
