Phil Collins: Back catalogue to be rereleased

All eight studio albums in deluxe editions

Face Value

Phil Collins' career is as unique as the fact that his highly successful back catalogue has never been rereleased in any kind of format so far. There were never any remastered editions, no 5.1 versions, no deluxe editions (as a matter of fact, some albums were released on 24 karat gold discs, but let's not count that as a proper rerelease). And although Phil Collins has never been a fan of wrapping things up again and again, it looks like the man is now convinced that it is a good idea to take a closer look at his back catalogue. Warner Music and Phil Collins have signed a new record deal and this fall they will start to rerelease his entire back catalogue (his eight studio albums Face Value, Hello I Must Be Going, No Jacket Required, ...But Seriously, Both Sides, Dance Into The Light, Testify and Going Back). Not included are his live albums Serious Hits Live and A Hot Night In Paris and the Disney Soundtracks for Tarzan and Brother Bear.

Both SidesWarner Music is not an unknown partner for him, but never before have all albums been managed and distributed by the same company worldwide at the same time. The albums will most likely come on CD and Vinyl and a "Remastered Deluxe Edition" for each album has been confirmed already. Most interesting for fans will be the fact that there will also be "other uniquely curated titles from the vaults" on these editions. No details were given regarding the release format (besides CD and Vinyl, a bonus disc in either DVD or Blu-ray format is likely, but nothing is confirmed here!). There are plenty of ideas and rumours around and it is no secret that some of Phil's album have been mixed in 5.1 surround sound several years ago - but they were never used for anything. So there's hope for surround versions of the albums as well. Fact is that this fall Warner will start with the release of his "divorce albums" Face Value and Both Sides. What we do not know yet: The bonus tracks for the deluxe editions, the final format(s) and the release schedule for 2016. As soon as we have more information, you will read it here!
