Peter Gabriel finishes Latin American Tour / Encore Series announced

Peter Gabriel has just finished his short Latin American Tour. Peter and his band played seven shows in five countries and presented a mix of what they played in 2004 and 2007 in Europe. In addition, Down To Earth from Wall*E was played on two shows. The regular set: The Rhythm Of The Heat / On The Air / Intruder / Steam / Blood Of Eden / Games Without Frontiers / No Self Control
/ Mother Of Violence / Darkness / The Tower That Ate People / San Jacinto / Solsbury Hill / Secret World / Sledgehammer / Signal To Noise / In Your Eyes / Father, Son / Red Rain / Biko. After San Jacinto, the band performed either Down To Earth, Come Talk To Me, Big Time or Burn You Up, Burn You Down. In Chile, Wallflower was performed as first Encore

Genesis: Ex-Drummer John Mayhew died!

With great sadness we took notice that former Genesis-drummer John Mayhew died on 26th March 2009, just one day before his 62nd birthday. John was drummin for Genesis in 1969 and 1970 an was their third drummer. He was replaced by Phil Collins. The band recorded the album Trespass with him.
His brother Paul started to find him through an article in a newspaper in England. When he finally found him, he found out that John has just died. Mayhew lived in Australia and New Zealand for many years, before he came back to England for a carpenter seminar. He was eventually recognized by a fan and was then a special guest on three Genesis conventions, including the Evolution of Genesis Event in Germany. Our thoughts are with his brother. Rest in peace, John.

Peter Gabriel wins two Grammys | More dates for South America

Peter Gabriel has won two Gammy Award at this year's ceremony. His contribitions Down To Earth and Define Dancing to the Pixar Movie Wall*E, both in collaboration with Thomas Newman, have won in the categories Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media and Best Instrumental Arrangement, repectively.
Meanwhile, more dates have been added to his short South American Tour. Still, there are no gigs planned in Brasilia, but further announced gigs include Venezuela (Caracas), Per (Lima) and Chile (Santiago de Chile). it will be the only touring Peter Gabriel will undertake this year. Peter also continued his work on Another Tongue, an album with coverversions.

Steve Hackett Event 2009 - More Information, Ticket Sale and Hotel Info!

We can now announce more details about the Steve Hackett Event 2009. The Event will take place on 27th and 28th March 2009 in Remscheid, Germany. Remscheid is approx 50km away from Düsseldorf Airport and you can easily get there with a train. The venue is an old church, refurbished for Events and concerts.
Steve will be around on both days for a special on stage live-interview as well as a full Acoustic Trio Show with Roger King and John Hackett. There will also be a few surprises, to be announced at a later date. Tickets will go on sale later this month and a Pre-Sale is available exclusively for Forum-members. Steve Hackett: New Website | Information about the Steve Hackett Event 2009!

Steve has launched a new website at www.hackettsongs.com - more updates on thi site will follow soon. Also, Steve will be the special guest of the 2009 Steve Hackett Event, presented by the German Genesis Fanclub it. The Event will take place on 28th March 2009 in Remscheid, Germany, at the Klosterkirche. The Event will feature an exhibition, collector's market, a video presentation with rare footage, an on stage interview with Steve and a Steve Hackett live-Show. Tickets for the Event will go on sale later this month, information about this will be published in time - meanwhile, you may also check the Event info on facebook and in our message board.
After Ray Wilson, Richard Macphail, John Mayhew, Armando Gallo, The Musical Box and Dale Newman, Steve will be another Special Guest at a German Fanclub Convention.

Peter Gabriel: Central-/South American Tour in 2009!

There have been rumours for some time, but now it is official: Peter Gabriel will tour South America including Central America in spring 2009. The first dates have been announced for Mexico (27th March Mexico City, 29th Guadalajara, 31st Monterrey) including british band Travis as Support Act! At this time, no information is availabel about the touring band. It is also unclear whether or not he will perform new songs. More details and dates will follow shortly. Peter has confirmed in his latest moonclub video update that this is the only tour he will do in 2009, this means no further dates outside South America and no Genesis tour.

Genesis: 1970-1975 will also be released on Vinyl (Boxset)!

The long anticipated 7SACD/6DVD-Boxset 1970-1975 will be released on 10th November (11th November on CD/DVD in North America). EMI Europe has announced another box set - all the albums from 1970 to 1975 will be released on November 10 on vinyl. The vinyl box set 1970-1975 contains all studio albums from that era (excluding extra tracks) in their original covers in gatefold sleeves. This is premium-class 200g vinyl. The records were produced in a so-called "high quality half-speed-mastering". The box will be released as a clipcase and it will be a limited edition. Ray Wilson: New studio-album to be released later this year!

Former Genesis lead-singer Ray Wilson has been touring Germany, Switzerland, Czechia and Poland recently and revealed the titel of his upcoming album - it will be called Propaganda Man. Ray will release the album indepentently again, but it will be available in shops later also. The album will first be available during his German Propaganda Man-Tour in November, it will be avaiable in shops early next year. According to Ray, Propaganda Man is a mixture of Change and She. Ray performs new tracks regularly during his acoustic live-shows, such as the title track, Brakes Are Gone and Razorlite. Another track, Bless Me, is currently available for free (download) on Ray's website. Propaganda Man is Ray Wilson's third solo studio-album.

DUSK: Italian Fanclub celebrates 4th DUSK-day - feat. Steve Hackett!

Our friends from the Italian Fanclub DUSK will celebrate their 4th DUSK day this month - a special day for all Genesis Fans and readers of the famous DUSK-magazine. Steve and John Hackett will be special guests - Steve will not perform a complete show, but agreed to play a couple of acoustic songs with his brother. He will also be available for an on-stage-interview. Further live-music will be presented by coverband After Genesis and Graziano Romani. Tickts are available for € 8,00 (DUSK-subscribers) and € 10,00 (normal price). The DUSK-day will take place on 20th September at the Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto. Genesis: 1970-1975 Boxset - Release Update

This fall, the long anticipated 1970-1975 SACD/DVD-Boxset (CD/DVD for North America) will be released. In Europe, the release has now been postponed until 10th November while the North American Release date has now been scheduled for 11th November. The Boxset contains all Albums from 1970-1975 plus a SACD/DVD with Extra Tracks, that contains the mysterious Jackson-Tape, that has been subject to many discussions among fans. Peter Gabriel: Big Blue Ball to be released in Europe soon

The much anticipated Big Blue Ball album is already available in three formats in Noth America. Now, a european rlease date has been fixed. The album will come out 28th July, WOMAD festival visitors will have the chance to buy the album there.
The album itself is based on recording sessions that took place some 15 years ago in the RealWorld studios. Gabriel himself is involved in four songs, other artists include Tim Finn, Papa Wemba, Manu Katche, Karl Wallinger, Sinead O'Connor and others. Genesis: When In Rome release information

The highly anticipated Live DVD When In Rome, featuring the entire concert from Rome 2007 plus tons of extras, will now be released May 26th (Europe) / May 27th (North America). The DVD will come out as a 3-DVD-Set, but a rumoured blue-ray version will not be released in May.
Besides the concert, there will be lots of rehearsal extras and a 1'45h documentary on disc three about the tour, called Come Rain Or Shine. When In Rome 2007 is the third official Live-DVD from Genesis after The Way We Walk Live and Live At Wembley Statdium. The DVD -Set is available for pre-order in Europe, and now also in North America (release: 10th June - click here).

The much anticipated Big Blue Ball album will finally come out in May/June. At this time, only a north American release has been announced. The album will be available as 2LP, 2LP in blue vinyl and CD. TheMusic.Com offers pre-orders for all three formats.

Genesis: Transcript of Fan-Chat with Tony Smith now available

The band's manager, Tony Smith, made himself available last week for a fan-chat on the official website. Tony Smith was in France and via phone in contact with the chat moderatore.
Questions were asked and Tony answered a lot of them. Most questions were about the Turn It On Again Tour, the possibility of further live-shows, future activities, the chances for a 5-piece reunion, but also questions about Phil Collins archive material. The whole chat is now available as a transcript in the official website's forum.

Steve Hackett: New classical album Tribute out now

He is one of the busiest members in the genesis camp. Steve Hackett has regularly released new albums and was involved in different projects.
In 2008, another rock-album will come out in fall, there may also be some live shows later this year, but nothing has been officially announced yet.
Meanwhile, Steve has released a new classical album entitled Tribute, featuring interpretations of various classical pieces.

Genesis: Live Over Europe release information

EMI will release the anticipated live album Live Over Europe on 26th November in Europe (23rd Nov in Germany, 27th Nov in North America). The album contains a full show, with the separate songs taken from various shows, but keeping them in the right order. Some introductions are missing. The album will be released in a 2CD Digipak format ONLY, the standart jewel case edition has been taken off the schedule. The digipak contains a 24 page booklet.18th November 2007

Peter Gabriel releases Whole Thing from Big Blue Ball project!

Fans around the world are still waiting for the Big Blue Ball project to be released on CD. It has been announced and postponed many times, now it seems we have to wait even longer. For the soundtrack of the TV series Long Way Down (feat Ewan McGregor), Peter has agreed to include the track Whole Thing from the Big Blue Ball sessions. The song was first presented in a moon club video last year and will now be on this 2CD compilation, due 3rd December (UK). Other tracks are contributions by various RealWorld musicians, plus the title track by the Stereophonics. There's no information if or when the whole Big Blue Ball session will be released.

The Musical Box: A Trick Of The Tail - Tour next fall (2008)!

It has been rumoured for some time, now it's official. Canadian band The Musical Box will perform the Trick Of The Tail Tour (1976) in 2008, starting with a european Tour. The final line-up will be announced later, Tour-dates and tickets will be available shortly, we will keep you up to date! Meanwhile, the band will start their Black Selling Tour today in Munich, Germany. It's the last time they perform a Selling England or Foxtrot Show in Europe. Genesis: 1983-1998 Boxset to be released November 20 (North America)!

Phase II of the Genesis rereleases are now available throughout Europe on SACD-Hybrid/DVD Doublediscs. From November 20 on, the set will also be available in North America on CD/DVD (NTSC) Doublediscs. The set contains all albums from 1983-1998 (Genesis, Invisible Touch, We Can't Dance, Calling All Stations) completely remastered in stereo and Surround Sound, plus a Bonus CD/DVD with Extra Tracks. Genesis: Live 2DVD and 2CD News / November release!

The new Boxset 1983-1998 has just been released in Europe and Chapter & Verse is not even a month old - and Genesis fans have to prepare for more to come this fall. You may have noticed that in our blog already - EMI will release a live 2CD called Live Over Europe on November 19 (Europe). The album will feature all songs of the set, taken from different cities and without most of Phils introductions. The Live 2DVD, also currently scheduled for a November 19 release, will be called When In Rome and will feature the complete Rome show plus a whoe bunch of extras.
