Peter Gabriel - The Making Of I/O

In August 2002, Peter Gabriel announced to release another album, entitled I/O, within eighteen month after the release of his new album Up. But a two-year tour in North America and Europa followed, keeping him from working on the new album. We are still waiting for his new album that will eventually be called I/O. Meanwhile, even some serious rumours about a possible Genesis Reunion occured in 2005. You will find the latest news on that project in our new The Making Of I/O diary here. No matter how long it takes...

New album in 2007?

During the Genesis Reunion (the little one) press conference, Mike responded to a question for Peter's involvement that he is too busy to do it now as he will release a new album in early 2007 and will probably be on tour the same time as Genesis. Big Blue Ball released before I/O?

The 15 year old Big Blue Ball project is due to be released this fall, as Billboard Magazine reports. I/O more minimalistic than Up?

In the latest Rolling Stone issue Gabriel talks about the status of I/O. The album will deal with birth, death and sex in the middle, so not too different from Up. Also, the sessions only incloude Richard Chapell and Ged Lynch and Gabriel produces the stuff himself. His latest idea is to write the songs, go on tour with them and then finish the stuff in the studio after the tour and the release the album. This possible tour would only incloude a bassis and a perussionist. We should not think about the impact this idea will have on the release date of I/O... November 2005
