I like the Waterboys too. Saw them once in the 80s. My favourite is a non typical " The Return Of Jimi Hendrix"

New to me - "new" bands and music

-
Sol Seppy, never heard of her until last week but loving her first album which is from 2006.
And this is simply gorgeous
-
Two I just heard today, both previously unknown to me:
Afterparty by Helen Ganya (aka Dog In The Snow)
-
I'm liking $20 by Boygenius
-
Have just discovered Brendan Benson - great stuff
-
I just heard this yesterday and like it, Sandrail Silhouette by Avalon Emerson and The Charm.
And on the same show (Lauren Laverne on BBC 6Music) this - Echo by Lucinda Chua. Very nice late-night dreamy feel to it.

New one on me, Coach Party. I like.
-
I also like this: Outside The Gate by Anna von Hausswolf. Nice and hypnotically droney.

The melody is powerfully reminiscent of "A Warm Place" by nine inch nails.

Off the top of my head I can't think of that one so will have to do a comparison check.
Meanwhile another new one for me - where would I be without BBC 6Music? - 2 Lines by The Big Moon.
-
Lain (phone clone) by Miss Grit

Yes this is very me and I agree the shift in the 2nd one is lovely. Not so keen on Yot Club. It's OK but doesn't grab me as much. I got a sort of 1982 vibe from it.

This is quite nice

I get very "party monster ost" vibes from this big-sounding dance song. Nice energy, if a bit 2-D.
-
I don't think I knew Warmduscher before. I just heard Love Strong and like it, nice and spiky with a sort of Gang Of Four/Wire feel.
-
Riverside.
A band that has been going for 20 years. Only just heard of them. They were recommended to.me.a.couple of months back by someone I met at a Lifesigns gig so I went to see them a few weeks ago. Really really good. Quite varied stuff from ambient to heavy prog. If you don't know them check them out.

Only just picked up on this. I like it, there are elements of Goldfrapp and Robyn, and the other stuff I've seen makes me think of Sleigh Bells and Crystal Castles. All of which is good.
From the pics of her I've seen she looks exactly how I'd imagine based on titles like Die In The Disco, Scary World, Requiem For Romance, and Die Die Lullaby. Which is no bad thing.

Just now discovered Morrisey-Mullen. Awesome stuff. One of their albums features Noel McCalla as lead singer. I'm going to get a couple albums on vinyl.
