It was an excellent gig, certainly very talented musicians. Quite a tinge of heavy prog in some tracks! I know Billy Corgan is a huge Floyd fan, I think he inducted them into the R&R Hall of Fame many years ago.
Really glad you enjoyed them. They are definitely a prog band, whatever that is (I remember a good discussion about how to define that elsewhere). Gossamer couldn't come from a band that isn't! Billy wears his influences on his sleeve - Black Sabbath, Bowie, The Cure, Joy Division, Floyd etc, and early on My Bloody Valentine. Can't wait to see them this summer.
Bat For Lashes day after tomorrow, Manchester Aviva Studio at Factory International. A quite new venue about which I hear good things.
Mr. Hackett next week in Copenhagen!
Tonight, bit of an odd one: Russell Crowe's Indoor Garden Party Band at Inverness Eden Court. I gather he does his own fairly safe blues/country-tinged rock compositions with some covers thrown in. Mrs B and I thought it would be something of a novelty to see an oscar-winning actor performing at the local arts centre, indeed on this UK tour he's playing quite small venues including a social club in Leeds last night.
I tentatively checked out some reviews which as it turns out are mainly quite positive. Hopefully it'll be an interesting one-off.
All I have left are tribute bands - Dire Straits Experience & Cinema Show, who I saw earlier this year. They are now playing in my neck of the woods, at Cronulla, which is my nearest beachside suburb. I've never been to a show down there in the nearly 30 years I've lived in the area! We willl both be seeing Bill Bailey and for the first time we have front row seats. He is always highly entertaining.

Will like to see your review in the last gig thread. It sounds a bit like David Duchovny, who I'd love to see in such a setting.
Edit: next gig, Smashing Pumpkins at a small venue in Ontario. Very stoked.
Edinburgh Psych Fest this coming weekend. I'm planning to see Gruff Rhys, Hotwax, Voka Gentle, NewDad and Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, and possibly drop in on TTSSFU and O.

Thanks, I certainly did
Up next in two weeks, back to Glasgow for Crowded House at the OVO Arena.
EDIT: correction - next in fact is Rush tribute band Moving Pictures this Friday at my local arts centre Eden Court in Inverness. I really dithered over going to this as I don't usually bother with tribute bands, indeed this will be the only one I've ever seen. I decided I'd make an exception this one time. Alex Lifeson has warmly praised them, and possibly the thing that tipped it for me was seeing the comment of Judy Peart, Neil's sister - "When I close my eyes it's my brother playing", in reference to drummer Jamie Dunleavy. What better compliment could there be. At this show they'll be playing the whole of Permanent Waves along with a wide range of other material - another thing that swayed me was that based on past setlists they play a good amount of the later stuff which is of more interest to me. I don't doubt we'll still get By-Tor but so be it. At least it'll be a good comfort break opportunity.

living in the south of England don't get a lot of chance to see them, but hopefully you will have a great time

I just found out Wierd Al Yankovic is coming to Red Rocks here in Colorado next summer. I'm hoping to snag tickets for my two boys and I.
