I loved her voice, very soulful and haunting.
When she'd sing about spiralling hopelessly in love, it was with such conviction that you completely believed her.
Peter Green and Danny Kirwin will always be my favourite members of Fleetwood Mac but Christine McVie I thought was the best singer that band ever had.
RIP Songbird.

RIP Christine McVie. Such tragic news, she had a wonderful voice

Sad to hear of her passing. I really enjoyed seeing her with the rest of Fleetwood Mac a number of years back.

Kirstie Alley. Actor from Cheers and Look Who's Talking. Reviewing her filmography I thought she was in more things I've seen than she actually was. Maybe she had a certain energy that stuck with me. Rip.

I was never a Cheers fan but had the hots for her around that time as she was so striking looking and had a lovely speaking voice. I too thought she was in loads of stuff so yeah maybe she had a presence that made her seem more prominent.
Beyond that assumption, knowing she was in Cheers and fancying her she wasn't much on my radar but it's sad to learn she's died.

Terry Hall from my home town of Coventry. Quite a shock . He was only 63. Saw him supporting the Rolling Stones a few ago when they played Cov. Certainly a significant cultural figure. A great shame.

Really sad news. Ghost Town by The Specials remains for me one of the most evocative songs of a particular time.
Immediately following that I learn today that Martin Duffy, keyboardist with The Charlatans, has died aged just 55. I saw him on stage with them in May. His huge rich mellotron and organ work was a big part of their sound.

Sorry to hear about Terry Hall too. Ghost Town really is a distinctive song for the ages. It also featured prominently in an episode of Father Ted, where a dj forgets all of his records except Ghost Town, so when they ask everyone to stand for the national anthem, that song comes on and it's brilliant.

Jeff Beck has died, aged 78. A guitar great.
Back in 1996 we were walking somewhere near the Hard Rock Café in London and saw a Ferrari with the number plate JBECK.

Indeed, really sad news with the loss of a singular, innovative, creative talent.

That's a huge loss. He was an electrifying player that made you sit up and listen.
I was particularly fond of his early pre-fusion albums and, of course, his work with the Yardbirds.

There's a TV performance (with Rick Wakeman, I think) where Steve introduces "Guitar Boogie" like this:
"This used to be called Berry's Boogie, and then Beck did it and called it Beck's Boogie, so I suppose we ought to call it Hackett's bogie."

From "Gas Tank", a TV show by Rick and Tony Ashton.

That's brilliant! Steve really rocking out, not sure I could have imagined him playing a smoky blues bar in Tennessee somewhere but there you have it. Looks like so much fun it's a wonder they weren't tempted to just let rip more often.
