    • Official Post

Mike Rutherford & Tony Banks told USA Today that the tour will end in March 2022 in London.

This means there won't be any further shows in North America, Europe or elsewhere.

  • I was watching the Last Domino Documentary again the other day and Daryl said, it would be fitting if they ended the tour in London.

I know it never meant to happen that way, but the tour (and Genesis) will now fittingly end in London.

It's also clear, Europe tour was never meant to happen & very sad news for Ireland & Belfast / Glasgow.

  • I don't think they've made any announcement yet on Glasgow. I suppose it's possible they can still sandwich that one in before London. (Though I do predict it will eventually be cancelled.)

where could that possibly be sandwiched? No space!

They had plans for Europe and West Coast, but COVID has had its effect. Sad, but that’s how it is now.

  • From the USA article it seems that Europe was only intended to be UK, Ireland and not mainland, but Covid changed that.

Given the situation in Europe developing, fingers crossed for March .... its a long way to go yet

it’s the other way round. They surely planned west coast and mainland Europe, then covid postponements got in the way. In the end some European dates became possible again due to the London reschedules

  • This all points to my being booked in for what will be the last Genesis live show ever. It's not until late March and I'm already feeling quite emotional about it.

    Abandon all reason

  • Not sure how the economics of tours go, but with the cancelations adding up, this tour may not be a giant money maker. No one's fault just life.

I've no doubt that Uncle Tony (Smith) will have very carefully hedged a lot of the risks with specialist insurers and reinsurers.

And with ticket prices at such eye-watering levels, I reckon they'll still be able to top up their pensions quite comfortably.

Can't help but laugh at what has to be one of the most poorly written articles on the tour I've read. Phil Collins wasn't able to join this tour due to health problems?? Who was singing then? The audience doesn't realize Phil is sitting down? 😂

I'm in hysterics here. One of the most poorly written articles? Surely it has to be the absolute worst. It's the most mixed-up self-contradictory stream of twaddle I've seen for some time. Yes I think my favourite bit is the audience not realising PC is seated "due to camera angles". That is, of course, having originally said he wasn't even on the tour. And then saying that since 2007 he continued touring with Genesis, sitting down some of the time.

I urge everyone to read it, it's hilarious.

You should have put up a spoiler alert. I'm going to Charlotte tomorrow and apparently wouldn't have noticed that he was sitting all night until I saw your post.

    Thanks for ruining it...

OMG....it's different that's for sure!! Perhaps it was the reviewers last day and they just thought "what the f..." and wrote that mess!! Or they were given it as a job with absolutely no previous knowledge or connection to the band at all!

Perhaps I'm being too kind......it is surely the worst, most-misunderstood article!!

  • This reads as AI journalism, as opposed to an actual person writing it. The inaccuracies are pretty blatant, but if you were just a bot being fed articles, I could see why it would make some of the statements it did. And the writing style is kind of choppy; it doesn't flow like a person wrote it. If I had to guess, this was a bot written article, given a pseudo by-line, and not a very well trained bot either.

At least I hope so, because if Su is a real person, she really needs to learn how to fact check and edit her articles (or go to work for Breaking the Band, which was about as good a piece of "journalism").

  • or of course, the article has people talking about it, which for most journalists is there ultimate goal?...

Lots of links available online to so called reviews...Guess what PC sits down during the show!

  • You should have put up a spoiler alert. I'm going to Charlotte tomorrow and apparently wouldn't have noticed that he was sitting all night until I saw your post.

Or alternatively you might not have noticed he wasn't even there at all.

If Su is a real person she needs to develop basic cognitive faculties. But you're right it does have that AI ring to it...

Perhaps that article was originally written in another language, and then some of the information got lost in translation. It happens.

...or indeed it's this, equally possible

This is a subject in which we are experts. What about other topics which are dealt with in the media? Caution is recommended!

This reads as AI journalism, as opposed to an actual person writing it.

I don't think this is the result of AI. This text was produced by a writer who really wants to be a journalist, but hasn't got the abilities to check facts and tell a coherent story. There are many others like this. That's why, in the areas of my interest, I go to the sources to try to find unfiltered information.
