Will we ever hear / see Phil solo again?

  • he joined us here on the forum a while back, after he was banned from Facebook for a couple of months. As soon as he was back on there, he deserted here like a sinking ship. As memory serves, his time here demonstrated why he was banned, one of our less likeable members!

Oh yes that in turn reminds me of all that. I didn't know he'd had a FB ban. I do remember him being a bit arsey on here.

  • We have two very famous guys named Mark among Genesis fans hahahaha. While we know what Mark Kenyon is like (I don't want to use epithets), Mark Batatis is fine. He's terribly principled, but I've never had any problems with him. You always have to weigh your words with him, God forbid you not use such hateful language as some people do on Facebook. If you are fair to him and the other fans, he is also fair to you. The very fact that he created a group where you can look for some unknown recordings proves that he is alright.

Not sure "famous" is the right word. Infamous? :D

  • Mark Kenyon is definitely infamous hahahahaha. I really don't want to use epithets - there is no such liar even in politics. But when I compared him to Putin in terms of his level of lies over a year ago, he shut up hahaha. And I have a good opinion about Mark Batatis - you just have to always weigh your words with him.

Well that obviously told him... How did he compare with Putin - worse, about the same, not so bad? Has he made rival Genesis fans mysteriously vanish, or had them killed, or invaded their houses?!

    Yeah sure, okay.

  • No, I mean the level of lies and rudeness. Not about murdering people - God forbid, I'm not comparing Mark Kenyon here. But the level of lies is absolutely equal to Putin's. :) At least in the sense that his recordings allegedly have copyrights and that they are "not subject to" sale. I know a little more about it than you - that's all I can say. I won't say anymore.

Thank you. This is one of the funniest things I've seen on this forum.

  • I wouldn't say it was 'confirmed' just because the information comes from 'a very reliable source'.

  • Maybe funny to you. Apparently the truth hurts. I'm closing this thread.

Not sure who you think is "hurt" and what "truth" you're referring to, but this -

    - is hysterical, trust me.

Oh, and it's not your thread to "close".

He was kicked off here. I missed it, but apparently I was one of those who upset him, and I got a tirade in response. By the time I checked in, it'd been deleted. Shame. I like a chuckle!

    I know what you mean.

He came across as someone with a massive ego and extremely short fuse.

But back in the day of snail-mail trades, if you overlooked those qualities and remained respectful and polite with him, he could be a very agreeable and a somewhat enticing trading partner.

  • I've never traded with Mark. By the way, it wouldn't even be a bad idea - but first of all, Mark probably has more 70's concerts that I don't have, and secondly, I definitely have more things to trade in the case of solo Phil. In any case, you can't complain about Mark , but you just have to be careful with him. I prefer more "accessible" people - but there are much, much worse.

Sorry to interject, I don't know Mark from a hole in the ground and as regards the thread topic, I'm firmly in the camp that Phil is a private person who should be left entirely alone, no questions asked. But if I "had to be careful" with a person, I would complain a lot about that aspect of them.

  • In the sense of being cautious, that you always have to think extra hard about what you want to say, write - so as not to get in trouble. It's not even a bad trait - I just prefer a more direct way of communicating.

Unless he's in law enforcement and I've broken a law, in what capacity could i be "in trouble" with this individual?

  • Hahahahaha. :))))) Seriously - good comparison. :) Figurative - I say this without irony. You're right. It's just that when you've never written or talked to someone - or very little (I'm talking in general), and the person seems very reserved, silent and withdrawn - I sometimes have trouble establishing contact. I don't blame the "withdrawn" person for this - I'm just sometimes tense at first. Here I mean this "problem". Each of us simply has different character traits.

  • No it's not strange. No one on here is expected to know who Genesis collectors and site administrators are, and - SHOCK HORROR! - not all of us are on Facebook. Some of us detest it and aren't interested in joining it or visiting any groups on it.

You nailed it ... I try to avoid social media, especially Facebook. I am also more of a silent member in forums (although I try to be part of discussions here sometimes), but I appreciate the work of fansites and I even have a DUSK subscription, although my Italian is far from good.

I also have a DUSK subscription. I love Mario‘s work!

About Phil: I agree he is a private person now and we have to respect that. But nevertheless I am really curious whether or not he is well and enjoys life…

  • If someone or something interests us - we should always ask about it. Of course, it is known that Phil is a separate private person - but when we have not known what is going on with him for 2 and a half years, I think we have the right to ask. It is not 2 weeks, a month, two. Some of us treat Phil as a subconscious "family" - however it may sound. He is with us almost every day through music, somehow he accompanies us all almost every day. Apparently Phil's health must be really bad, especially since Phil's secretary Annie Callingham retired and there is no replacement, which also means that Phil probably does not plan any interviews, media activity, etc. etc. In this situation, we should wish Phil health and rest all the more.
