I have to say that Phil's affection for the Alamo, whilst impressive in its conviction, is something to which I can't relate. Indeed, it's the only aspect of his life for which I have no interest. I've never seen the films about the Alamo, I've never read the book Phil wrote on it...I just couldn't care less about it.
That said, watching Phil being interviewed is always a joy.

I've seen the Alamo. San Antonio is a beautiful city. But I don't relate to his interest in it either.

Here is a new interview in which he raises the possibility that he may be able to play drums again.

Steve Lillywhite felt that he had to audition Phil! That's pretty funny.
I like the idea that we might get an album of new material from him. I wasn't crazy about Testify; I felt he'd lost his mojo. But artists have peaks and troughs and there's no reason why he can't pull something out of the bag if he went into the studio again.

“I have rediscovered my passion for music and performing! It's time to do it all again and I'm excited… it just feels right."
--This recent quote from Phil makes me think we might see another new studio album.
