  • It seems mellower than the others I have with not as many of those winding guitar solos that I love, but it makes up for that with some very beautiful melodies.

A couple of hours after these posts were written Our Shangri-La came up on my iPod. He doesn't do songs this heartfelt & open that often, it's true.

  • I have always enjoyed Tracker. It always brings a smile to my face. 'Wherever I go' is like clutching sadness. Similarly Privateering has 'Seattle' which is chilling and stark. Mark Knopflers lyrics are profound on that one.

    My latest purchase is

Transatlantic Sessions Volume 2 from yonks ago. I bought it for Excuse me mister by John Martyn but love many of the songs on it particularly Paul Brady.

  • Scorpions - In Trance (Japanese Blu-spec CD2) ... my favourite of theirs, right in the middle of their classic run of five (or six, if you count Tokyo Tapes). Sounds amazing on my system, turned up super loud!

What an awesome band they were in the 70s...

  • Just ordered the surround sound version of The Dukes Of Stratosphear! (XTC to mere mortals) - it's called Psurroundabout Ride

    Ian

Putting the old-fashioned Staffordshire plate in the dishwasher!

  • Just ordered the Banks Vaults box set.

(I had three of the seven "rock" albums but I wanted the full set and it seemed half of them weren't available on disc for some time, so I'm quite looking forward to getting this)

  • Underworld - Barbara Barbara, We Face A Shining Future

Pixx - Small Mercies (not strictly speaking my purchase but my sister got it for my birthday)

    Abandon all reason

Edited once, last by Backdrifter ().

  • Genesis - Duke - first ever CD pressing (1983, West Germany), Charisma 'yellow rays' design... near mint condition. Best sounding version of this album I've ever heard! 8)

The original CD mastering of “Duke” is the best version (says a proud owner of the original Japanese pressing 😎).

Stepping out the back way, hoping nobody sees...

  • On order, waiting to receive

Gary Brooker - Lead Me To Water

(I had this album back when I collected cassettes and had sort of forgotten about it. Then I was listening to a Clapton album the other day which features Brooker and I was reminded of this album which I haven't listened to in 20+ years. It not only includes guest appearances by Clapton, but Phil Collins and George Harrison.)

  • New WILCO album - a bit disappointed

New NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS album

well, they are different now. But still, I would like to see them doing more "songs" instead of soundscapes with spoken words.

on the other hand - they don't stop and do not repeat themselves

    cheers

    Christian
