The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - anniversary celebration

  • My two cents: the possibilities could be:

    • A new mix, along with a fresh remix of the Shrine Auditorium performance.
    • A new mix, paired with an unreleased show, possibly from Liverpool or Lakeland.
    • The inclusion of original, surround sound, and Dolby Atmos mixes.

I don't see any Headley Grange stuff being released, or any other rarity from that era, unfortunately. Maybe some interviews and/or an extensive booklet?

  • My wishlist (knowing that by now it's too late):

    Original Remastered Mix

New Atmos Mix synchronised with the slides and surviving 1975 footage.

New Documentary (including Jorodowsky and discussions about the then possible film)

The Musical box playing the Lamb Show on video (Atmos mix as well, why the hell not?)

The lamb live in Atmos (with no overdubs, maybe Birmingham it was?)

The Lamb live Shrine 1975 in Atmos

    5 cds of demos

The lamb songs played through the years ("Lamb Stew 1976", "In the cage 87", The lamb acoustic 2022...)

  • Some of that would be great in a fantasy package except for the tribute band, that wouldn't work at all.

    Abandon all reason

  • This is what I want but expect we won't get:

This is brilliant, I don't think I've come across it before despite reading about it here. Not light listening obviously, but for a hardcore fan I think it's great to have. Some of the jams sound really interesting, I really enjoyed the Evil Jam bit I just listened to.

If this stuff is in "the vaults" I have to say Tony's claim that said vaults are empty is off the mark. They may have no interest in releasing it but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist!

  • with the bands history when it comes to releasing additional material/live shows...i can't help but feel this news may be slightly underwhelming..but hopefully i will be proved wrong! 😄

It was Bankspeak. He meant there was nothing he/they considered worthy of release, no properly recorded fully finished unreleased tracks.

I first heard the HG stuff a while ago and loved how dirty some of it is. There's a slow heavy thing with quite vicious fuzz bass that had me near salivating. It gives a glimpse into a possible dark, filthy Genesis that frustratingly never fully emerged

Exactly my impression of some of the pieces I heard. It's a far rawer version of the band than most of what we have available. I like to think that each album has this unheard dark counterpart of rehearsals, a bit like stepping into the upside down in Stranger Things and discovering that there's a shadowy counterpart to Genesis. Probably not and I know their approach to such things but it's nice to dream!

  • This is absolutely not what the magazine was alluding to. Something more will be announced soon.

It'd better be. I'm not too excited about what it might be but better it's focused on the actual album itself and not the above dose of Prog Will Eat Itself.

But, how do we really know what the magazine was referring to? There is nothing in the magazine other than one sentence at the very end of an article stating that a new expanded edition was going to be released later this year. They didn't cite any source for this, they didn't give any details.

Mojo magazine reported in 2020 that an expanded edition of The Lamb was coming out that year.

Look, I really hope this happens, but I'm not holding my breath. I've been burned before.
