And what about you? Anyone remembers this being released in 1984? Any comments in general?

  • If you go back the same amount of time from its release, it was only 3 months since the D-Day operation. And John Lennon was 3 years old.

And had Lennon lived to hear Til We Have Faces, there's no doubt he'd hail it as (etc etc etc)

    Abandon all reason

  • It's one of a few Hackett albums I do not really like. Not sure why, but before that, "Cured" and "Highly Strung" were also quite weak, imo. Then, with "Guitar Noir", he opened a new chapter with good albums.

Nevertheless, I like the "Matilda" song as well. And "Myopia".

... any moment that we bring to life - ridiculous sublime

  • Prefer the original running order, and the original mix of "Matilda......."

    Agreed.

I first encountered the album when it was new and side 2 started playing in the record store I was visiting. It intrigued me even before I realized it was Steve. I bought it on the spot and have liked it ever since. Favorites are "Let Me Count the Ways" (am I the only one who thinks the drumming on this track is awesome?) and "Taking the Easy Way Out."

I'm not a fan of the Kim Poor cover, though. It's ugly and doesn't fit with the music.

Sorry, but I don't have a signature at the moment.

It's a little bit Hit & Miss when it comes to Hackett's cover artwork. That was the case when Kim did them and is also the case afterwards.

Yes. Liked Voyage, PDT a bit busy, Spectral suited the music and I liked it, Defector too similar. After that I can’t remember liking any of them really but I’ll need to check. They were either naff (Cured), too similar to other Kim Poor work or too literal.
