Songs you'd like to hear an official live release of

  • What are the live songs that you'd most like to hear that are only in bootleg/YouTube form, and not on any official live releases?

    For me:

    • Fly on a Windshield, 1976
    • Entangled 1976
    • Wot Gorilla 1977 (just for interest's sake!)
    • Turn it on Again, 1980
    • Like it or Not 1982
  • The 76/77 ones you mentioned, plus White Mountain from that time, but the full Cage medley from 86 with Suppers Ready on it would be great to have. Mama from 1992 or 93, was that ever officially released? I thought the one on the Shorts was from 1987.

  • Wasn't Entangled released on Archives #2?

I would like official releases of any songs that were played live but have never been released officially. And finally a full release of a CAS tour show.

  • The Lamb Medley from 1976 (Lamb-Fly on a Windshield-Carpet Crawlers)

    White Mountain from 1976

    Inside and Out from 1977

    Supper's Ready from 1982

    Old Medley from Mama Tour

In The Cage Medley (both versions, 1986 and 1987).

    Great thread!

  • Supper's Ready from the Encore Tour

It was outstanding, a zillion times better than on SO.

As was Firth 81, although that was on the b-side of some single wasn't it?

    77: Lilith/Gorilla, Inside & Out.

EDIT: 82, just remembered Lamb/Watcher, plus I have a soft spot for the Volcano/Lines/Follow opener.

    Agree with 86 Cage/Apocalypse etc.

    Abandon all reason

  • A lot of great ideas so far!

I'd love to have the various medleys, especially the ones from The Mama Tour. They're kinda weird, but that's part of their charm.

I also agree that a complete Encore Tour show would be great. I've been listening to that Saratoga Springs version of Supper's Ready and it is jaw-droppingly good. It's bittersweet they did so many complete versions of the old classics on that tour and performed them really well, but chose not to release them.

  • I'm sure someone will correct me if this is already out there but I don't think it is.....I Know What I Like from Hammersmith in December 81 or 82 (can't remember which). The audience were in good voice and the energy of the track really came across.

It was part of the encore I remember - and they went off into a 'country/bluesy/folky' jam towards the end.

    • Wot Gorilla 1977 (just for interest's sake!)

That was also played (only once I think during the Phil Collins Big Band tour, and a nice soundboard recording would be great from that show, too!

If definitely London, it'd be Wembley Arena Dec 81 or Hammersmith Sep/Oct (?) 82. The jam sounds interesting, I'll have to seek this out if we can pin it down.

Re earlier references to them, the Mama Tour bits & pieces medleys are ones for which I'd have no interest in official releases. It was interesting they did them but they were the least effective or well sequenced of any medleys they ever did. But from that tour the opening Dodo would be great. I've always thought it was a pity it got lopped off the start of the official video release.

  • Interestiing topic.

Although I think the majority of interesting tracks is available somewhere (soundboard / torrent), I'd like to hear rehearsal versions of "Living Forever" and "Way Of The World". A good video of "Living Forever" exists....

  • 1976: Fly On A Windshield, White Mountain

1977: Everything they left off Second's Out and the Lilywhite Lilith/Wot Gorilla one-off

1978: Everything they left off Knebworth and other multi-track recordings from this tour

    1980: Back in NYC

    1981: Firth of Fifth (remixed)

    1982: Supper's Ready

1983: Any of the other "old" medleys, Dodo, Los Endos (with the drum duet leading into it)

1986: In the Cage medley with Apocalypse onward

1998: The acoustic medley with Lover's Leap
