Songs you'd like to hear an official live release of

  • you're right...it was September....funny how the mind plays tricks because I could swear it was almost Christmas!!😂

I was in Aldi today, looking at the chocolate Santa's, mince pies and Christmas cake. September IS almost Christmas! :/

  • From the bootlegs I’ve heard, the suppers ready portion from the invisible touch tour was really taxing on Phil‘s voice. He sounded terrible trying to reach those high notes. It’s not his fault, it’s just the way the song was written. I don’t think an official version of that song would be very good.

Was it like that from the start? I wondered if it might be better earlier in the tour.

  • He sounded pretty good on some of the 1986 performances. Detroit and NYC were pretty good, although I don't think there are multitracks. LA was mostly good and was professionally recorded on several nights.

He could usually nail "666..." He often flubbed "...blowing". He was usually good on As Sure As Eggs Is Eggs, though it never sounded as effortless as in earlier years.

  • Agree with everything - a complete live CAS tour recording would be nice, but for me personally, I would adore a live version of Alien Afternoon - the extended ending with the guitar solo moves me

A small confession here : I like what Anthony Drennan did on that tour a lot, especially the Firth of Fifth solo. An official release of this portion would be great...

  • Interesting thread.

I also like the CAS songs live. Alien Afternoon ending, with powerful vocals by Ray Wilson including those awaaaaay again.

Stating the obvious, the songs from the studio albums that came out right after a live album are the most overlooked for the following live release. The Archive #2 sort of balanced this effect.

    My two songs:

    1. Keep it dark.
    2. Tonight x3 in full.

TTT might be in some 1993 CD single B side. I'm not sure.

I took 'official release' in the thread title to mean a release in any form, which for these we do have. But if it means only audio then we certainly don't have Dark, and as for TTT I too am getting a vague memory of some limited release cd or something but I'm not convinced.
