STEVE HACKETT - Blues With A Feeling (30th Anniversary 2024)

  • Today is the 30th release anniversary of Blues With A Feeling, one of the rather special STEVE HACKETT solo albums.

What do you think about this album? Favorite tracks?

This is our review, it was first published in our German Fanclub Magazine in September 1994 and then translated many years later for this website:

  • Good album, best tracks being Tombstone Roller, Big Dallas Sky, and Way Down South, but it's too smooth/sanitized to be a real "Blues" album, and the Blues ain't my thing anyway. Not his best, but not his worst either!

Putting the old-fashioned Staffordshire plate in the dishwasher!

  • Not one of Steve's stronger albums IMO. He's done several "bluesy" songs since that would have fit better on it than some of what's actually there. My favorite track is Tombstone Roller.

Sorry, but I don't have a signature at the moment.

  • I always had my problems with this album. It sounds a bit out of context, it's simply not a safe place for Steve. At the time, it was interesting to see him explore new ground, but looking back, it's more like an adventure which didn't work. Nevertheless, the above mentioned "Tombstone Rolle"r is great, as is "Born In Chicago" ...

... any moment that we bring to life - ridiculous sublime

I might have to check this out now. I love a good misadventure 🤠!
