I've heard the album version of Abacab played on BBC 6 Music - I can't recall if it was Guy Garvey's show, but it may well have been. It was at a friend's house - we were having a BBQ and the radio was playing quite loudly outside through decent speakers. The instrumental section sounded amazing I have to say!

Last 13th March The Daily Telegraph featured an interview with Steve Hackett with the headline "Phil Collins doesn't deserve what’s happened to him".

Genesis 1967-1977 was a specialist round in Mastermind last night. I scored 10, 1 less than the contestant, out of 12 questions, I got the 1st wrong, and the one about a Tony song on W&W (Not wishing to spoil it for iPlayerers!)

Just attempted it myself and got the same score but two different incorrect answers.

I got 11 but a different wrong answer than the contestant; I couldn't remember the Harold one.

I thought this was going to be one of the more ridiculous AI generated articles when I saw the heading. "Top five songs" on an album with 9 songs 😆. However i think it reads like it was written by a human.
The Top 5 Songs on Genesis’ Self-Titled 1983 AlbumThe debate over when Genesis “went pop” is a dubious one. The group’s transition from progressive rock band with a cult following to ubiquitous Top-40…americansongwriter.comI never knew this about It's Gonna Get Better. Is this widely known? Is it true? I don't remember seeing it in the liner notes.
"The song begins with a woozy blend of four notes sampled from the cello part of an Aram Khachaturian suite."

About It's Gonna Get Better, there seems to be an original source for this in a TWR interview
Quote
...I loved the Emulators where you could put your own sounds on it and record your own riffs and that happens all the time now but in those days it was more unusual and I remember trying to get a decent cello sound and I recorded the first four notes of a piece which was a Katchachurian which came from the Valley Suite and the first four notes of that and they didn’t sound that great but I recorded them and I played the four notes at the same time and it sounded fantastic, and that was so good and that was the introduction to It’s Gonna Get Better and we couldn’t really make the most of it and it sounded so good what do you do with it, you know? So Mike started playing behind it and it ended up being something else but the four notes sounded remarkably like Gorecki’s symphony because of the overlapping notes and it was quite interesting how that worked. The Valley Suite it's probably a transcription error. I know nothing about Khachaturian's works, but the Ballet Suite is a more likely reference.

this one may may have already been added elsewhere...but a good iv with AP, some of which has been discussed before...
“Peter Gabriel was forced to start slipping into this persona… If we’d not had two 12-strings to retune, would he ever have started telling all those stories?” Why so many musicians envy Anthony Phillips’ career after GenesisIllness, heartbreak and stage fright may have led some to think of him as an also-ran – but under the radar he’s much, much more than the “ex-genius” people…www.loudersound.com -

Test Match Special - View from the Boundary - Tony Banks - BBC SoundsJonathan Agnew sits down with musician, and founding member of Genesis, Tony Banks.www.bbc.co.ukI hope that link works!

I'm listening to it now, he's on very good, affable form.
-
Well worth seeking out, he comes across as a really nice chap and loves his cricket.
No new information at all, but good to hear some familiar tales told by him.
I suspect he made a slight error in describing Phil's first gig as lead singer by saying Phil wore white dungarees - which would have been the selling England tour, but a minor point.
-
PC is also a huge cricket fan.
