So this song was a big song for my wife and I when we were dating and became really our song. I was super bummed to hear that Phil admitted in an interview that I heard that he really did not like doing the song at all LOL. So was just curious if this is just another Phil Collins love song and not big deal or if people here liked it. Sorry if I'm being laughed at by half the members on the board LOL I totally get it LOL but enjoy the song hence my avatar lol
Am I in the minority and love the song Groovy Kind of Love??

I have always loved it. Always. I know he didn't write it but compared with Against All Odds & Separate Lives (both of which I saw him play) it is a model of restraint.
-
I certainly liked it at the time and it benefits from not being overplayed on the radio (unlike Against All Odds). Yeah, it's a good tune.

You guys are the best lol

I do like it as well. It's not a great piece of music, but it has a certain atmosphere I always loved.

I like it as well. In fact, I think Phil's singing is quite wonderful in it.
It is a cover version, though - I think that is an under-known detail about the song. Phil either heard Patti LaBelle's version or (more likely) The Mindbenders' version. In any case, it's a good version.

I liked Phil's first 3 albums and SOME tracks thereafter. I wasn't enamored with his cover songs, the aforementioned included.

It's a shame that he never recorded Keep On Running, Always, Helpless Heart, People Get Ready and It's Alright with a band as I thought he did a great job with them. Other than that, The Way You Look Tonight, Do Nothing Til You Hear From Me and Somewhere showed that an understanding of jazz was not beyond him. Decent covers all.

A song I have always liked
