50th Anniversary - Your favorite tracks on ... "Foxtrot"

No surprises from this voter. SR, Watcher and Can Utility.

WOTS has possibly the greatest intro of any song, by anyone imo. All these years later I still get goosebumps when I hear it. And fortunately the rest of the song lives up to the intro.

Can Utility feels likes it has aged really well. Beautiful acoustic work, and great climax.

For me, the weakest is Get Em Out, by some distance. Maybe it worked really well live, but I always thought it was a bit out of place on the album.

Watcher of the Skies and Supper's Ready (no surprises) and Get 'Em Out By Friday for my third. I feel like it and Time Table always seem underappreciated but I've always found those songs really compelling.

Watcher, Supper ... and Horizons

Anyone who does not vote for Supper's Ready?...

I picked Time Table and Can-Utility along with it. Wanted to pick Watcher too but I went for Time Table since I love this song and it seems to be one of those universally unloved songs. I would have picked Horizons too but I could only pick three, and who am I to ignore Supper's Ready...

I seem to be falling in with the usual top 3. I prefer live performances of Supper's Ready, but I have to pick it. Watcher does have a fantastic intro and that great machine gun rhythm figure. And Can-Utility is one of Genesis's many great album tracks that never made it to top tier prominence.

Time Table is a great song but I couldn't vote for it ahead of Can-Utility which appeals to my love of British history (although so does Time Table)...

Exactly my view of SR - it's a great song on "Foxtrot", but it only finds its full expression live.

I picked Can-Utility and GEOBF - I almost picked "Time Table" as well - I really like that song too.

Let's face it, it's a great album! I love Time Table too..it's great to see the Musical Box playing Time Table and Can Utility on recent tours.

Always had a big soft spot for can utility.... It reminds me of seven stones (another song I love) somehow, like the equivalent 'deep cut' from a sister album. I also went for watcher and Supper's Ready. Time table is a sweet song but a little less impactful to me than the first three I chose. And get em out is a bit of an odd epic. I always preferred hogweed, which again I consider a sister piece of sorts.

I've grown to like this album less over the years whilst, conversely, I like Nursery Cryme so much more. I just feel that Nursery Cryme hangs together so much more successfully than Foxtrot.

Supper's Ready, of course, is great and I've always liked Get 'Em Out By Friday and Can-Utility And The Coastliners but Time Table is dull and Horizons is ever duller. And the album cover is terrible!

As others feel, I think several songs on this album came across more powerfully live.

Some of the bits I love from live recordings seem almost subdued in the studio version. Two songs I thought really benefited live were Watcher and GEOBF.

While Watcher has that goosebump-inducing intro, I always found GEOBF the more interesting and overall more appealing song.

Supper's Ready and Can Utility are by far my two favourite tracks on the album and GEOBF would be my third.

Foxtrot turns 50 these days. We're not 100% sure when exactly, 22nd September seems to be a likely release date, but 100% proof is still missing. If you have such a proof (please don't post Wikipedia links!), please let us know.

Supper's Ready, me too. It's like Premier League football in Germany, Munich always takes the top spot, and the interesting thing is who is on #2 and #3.

For me, #2 and #3 are Time Table - the utterly overlooked song on Foxtrot with its haunting beauty - and Can-Utility.

I will have to be boring and pick Supper's Ready, followed closely by Watcher Of The Skies.
