Stephen W Tayler has mastered it!
Still to come later today, I imagine. It's only morning in my part of the world. They made reference to it in the latest email last week, when they announced the new merch. So something should show up soon.
Perhaps so, not they never were THAT late.

Notes: We Can't Dance is the longest single album by Genesis (by CD standards). However, there were two songs that didn't make it onto the album including On The Shoreline, which probably lost out because the "elephant sound" of the song had already been used on No Son Of Mine. Nevertheless, the song is extremely popular with fans and it became popular when it was released on the Earthrise II sampler. It was even released as a single in Italy... |

At the end of the day. We are Genesis fans. And Nic played with them but The Effect simply might have a different idea how to make music
They have three singles on Spotify, I hope they do some covers.
The third one was released today. As mentioned in our news (see link in first post) a new album / their first is finished waiting to be released. Would make a lot of sense to get this out before the shows.
Meanwhile, another date was announced - they will perform on 8 June at the Coop Live Festival in Route de Plaissan Puilacher, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
I guess this one will feature the 2008 mixes? I have the original 1999 version, it still featured the original digital remasters. Quite noticeable in Follow You Follow Me, the end of the synth solo continues into the final chorus instead of being cut off as in the new mix.
There is no info about the mix so I doubt they changed it.
After three sold out shows - 4th show for Zoetermeer announced!
The Effect will be the support act for TOTO during their 7 shows in Germany this summer!
UPDATE: A CD will also be re-issued
And there's a clear Vinyl edition in the UK:
More or less in time for its 25th release anniversary, the Hits-compilation "Turn It On Again: The Hits" will be released on vinyl for te very first time in May.

That's awesome. Looks like the same house he used in The Big Band documentary which would make sense because I think it came out in '96 as well.
Did Phil do an EPK for Dance Into The Light like he did for Both Sides and Testify (the 30 minute documentary)?
It is the same location indeed. It's also the place where the recording for George Martin's In My Life album was done.
As for the EPK - not sure (or I can't remember right now)
An interesting article about the recording of the PHIL COLLINS album "Dance Into The Light" (including rare photos) is available here:

Notes: An instrumental work that has an otter as its theme can almost only come from the corner of Ant Phillips at TotW. But one thing at a time: The Brit Henry Williamson wrote the novel Tarka the Otter in 1927. The book describes the life of the otter Tarka. Although the book was not originally conceived for children, it quickly became very popular, especially with young readers. Williamson's son Harry was born in 1950 and is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer and producer. He founded the music label Ottersongs in 1980, whose name was inspired by his father's work. Eight years later, Williamson teamed up with Ant Phillips to create an orchestral work, also inspired by his father's book. The album Tarka comprises the three pieces Movement I, Movement II and Movement III. Ant and Simon Heyworth also wrote the Anthem from Tarka, adapting a theme from another part of the work. The piece forms the conclusion of the album. The whole thing was released 36 years ago this year. A good reason to dedicate some time to this piece as a representative of the album at TotW!. |
