GENESIS - The Return Of The Giant Hogweed Year: 1971 Album: Nursery Cryme Working title: unknown Credits: Banks, Collins, Gabriel, Hackett, Rutherford Lyrics: Yes Length: 08:09 Musicians: Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford Played Live: 1971, 1972 Cover versions: (?) Notes: This track features some Hackett tapping and was an early live favorite. It never was played live in later years and somehow remains a dream of the past - but how do you like it? |
10 years ago today, SCRATCH MY BACK was released in the UK (release date was different in some other countries).
Looking back, what do you think about the album today? What are your three favorite tracks?
This was our review back then:

Got all the album, listening to them every now and then. Wouldn't consider me being a fan, though.
Steve's birthday was yesterday, Peter's is today. Steve is busy as always and touring like he was in his twenties.
Peter is VERY silent at the moment. Last gigs are also more than three years ago.
What do you think is more realistic
a) Steve Hackett plays a show without any Genesis track
b) Peter Gabriel releases a new album
I have a problem with political discussions in music forms for good reasons. We do have this kind of thread in our German forum as well, and it tends to escalate from time to time.
Please stick to facts and don't use strong language. And never insult someone in this community. Thank you
Ditto to this really. I've only just joined so if the comment was directed at me too then I take issue to that.
I would like to stick around here more than one day however if this is the kind of welcome new members get then maybe I'll have to rethink that.
I also wasn't complaining in fact I think I made that perfectly clear in my post that it wasn't a complaint.
wasn't directed at you - I believe it's just a basic comment on the fan culture in general. Means there are always people who are passionate to find rare gems, but still some would complain etc. You didn't!
By the way, I agree 100% to your comment.
Besides the UK dates, more shows were announced for late 2020 (France, Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal and Spain)

Italy may also follow shortly
Four shows in BRAZIL this June were announced

For me
Snowbound
Burning Rope
Deep In The Motherlode
It's an album I could never really dive into - although it has some memorable tracks
Thank you! I have forwarded that to the author
Thanks - what a great title for an article
So, after three episodes I am really pleased with the series
We have published another review - this time it's Sides. It was done last year to coincide with the 40th anniversary and we needed some time to translate it
Here it is, perhaps Jonathan Dann can have a look and comment when necessary?

Fans.....What fans?
Seriously dou you think that a bunch of people remained here or on Facebook group have the power on whatever decision?
C'mon guys..........
who said that? I think it's just about the question what fans THINK of their band and what they like best.
Genesis will do what they want to do and they have every right to do that
Steve Hackett and Djabe will be playing live again in 2020. The first three shows are now confirmed in Hungarym, Czech Republic and Austria:
