First copies of the book have arrived in Germany. There are no redundant photos in the book, so the 450+ pages will take some time to read. Don't expect reviews too soon

I remember listening to that track for the first time. I got a promo copy very early (June or July 2002) and nearly destroyed my ears as I played this really loud.
Then a couple of weeks later Peter played this in Munich, still weeks before the album came out. Only a few knew this track. Was a great moment when he played this.
Difficult ...
Genesis
I saw them on every tour since 1992.
Probably London 2022 was my favorite. I also liked the band a lot more in 2022 than in 2007.
Gabriel
Montreal 2002 and Brighton 2003 are possibly my favorites. And maybe the first Wolfsburg show in 2012
Collins
The 1998 Big Band show blew me away, What a great performance! Then A Trip Into The Light in Dortmund 1997
Hackett
Night of the Prog 2015
Wilson
Gelsenkirchen 2002 and Essen 2006 - the latter was a pure Stiltskin show - no Genesis

Notes: Darkness is considered one of the core pieces in the making of UP, which took Gabriel almost 10 years to produce. The song stands out among the Gabriel songs, even though stylistic elements of the song were already used on OVO (2000) (The Tower That Ate People). During the 2-year (Still) Growing Up tour, Darkness was usually played after the opener (which was mostly Here Comes The Flood). In 2009 it returned to the live set after the song was not played in 2007. |
Today I listened to Seconds Out for the first time in quite a while. Now I’m totally jacked up for Tuesday’s Steve Hackett concert. It’s great that he’s keeping all these wonderful classics alive.
enjoy it. Saw this show earlier this year in Dresden. The show nearly didn’t take place due to Covid restrictions, but we were lucky …
you can read my gig review here
It actually one of the longest tracks Ray has ever released. I quite like it, but it's also one of those tracks where you think "that could've been better, I just don't know what's missing"
Here is a live version from Unna 2019
In Germany, a new book (in German language obviously) about the Genesis album "The Lamb Lies Down On Boradway" is now available:
https://www.genesis-news.com/n…-about-The-Lamb-n830.html
The book has 450+ pages (!) and was written by historian and cultural scientist (and Genesis fan) Mark Bell.
We haven't seen the book yet and also there are no plans at the moment to translate this into English, but who knows ...
Part time Mechanic ANDREW ROACHFORD will be on solo tour in the UK in 2023 (prior to the Mechanics tour).
Roachford's show is called "An Evening With Roachford - In Support Of Independent Music Venues"
All dates and ticket info:
A couple of videos created by Michaela Ix and Volker Warncke and approved by Steve Hackett!
Thanks for posting. I have been preparing a news item recently but was waiting for more dates to be confirmed.
After our research on the Foxtrot release date, we have also investigated the Lamb release dates. The 22nd for the UK has been known for a while and you can find the proof in our article below. Much more complicated is the US release date.
https://www.genesis-news.com/c…Broadway-report-s858.html
North American dates are scheduled for late summer / fall and will be announced at a later date.
Peter was also doing arenas in 2012 in the US

Notes: For many, And Then There Were Three marked the beginning of the band's commercial phase. But the opener, of all things, was precisely not that. Down And Out was massive, bulky, uncomfortable. Reason enough to discuss the whole thing in the context of the Track Of The Week.. |
BillFilm have uploaded a music only version of the "The Last Domino?" Tour rehearsal documentary
indeed...adds up to an expensive evening. at least there wasn't the full deluxe dinner special option with a PG quiz!....got some tickets for Primal Scream for next year, £40 each and 10 minute walk from home, which is much better value for me!
indeed pricing is an issue. Since I travel less for live shows than I used to (I saw him on the (Still) Growing Up tour 14 times - shows in Germany, Canada and the UK), it's easier for me also financially. So for this tour I may see two or three shows. Dublin is on our list for a holiday city trip anyway, so that makes sense. Cologne is close to where my family is. Maybe I will also do Berlin. But I certainly won't fly to North America anymore - just to see shows (and add some sightseeing / holidays) and that's also something my family situation doesn't allow anymore.
Same for Hackett or the Mechanics. If they play somewhere near and it's logistically doable, I go. If not, I decide on short notice.
I saw Genesis three times only. Last tour was 9 shows. I know people who saw 10+ shows.
So, in a nutshell: costs for live shows are too high but for me affordable, also because I don't do a lot anyway.
On balance I probably won't investigate further.
Well, I have heard the whole album and I highly recommend to listen to it as a whole piece. Funny enough, the track eMolecule is the track I don't listen to a lot anymore.
Interesting because the setlist is complete instead of the Serious Hits Live cd.
not sure …if I’m not mistaken the 2003 double DVD contains the whole show.
EDIT: See here
Should Peter's contributions to Colin Scot's self-titled album from 1971 and his flute playing on a track off Cat Steven's 1970 album Mona Bone Jakon be included in the compendium?
thanks for this.
We will include this in our next update. By the time we started working on that compendium (12 years ago!) it simply was not on our radar.
