New guy here. Been lurking for quite a while.
Seen Genesis 3 times. I discovered them in 1982 while station in Germany. Then was transferred to Ft. Hood, Texas. That was where my Genesis journey started.
Mama Tour
Jan. 24, 1984 - Frank Erwin Center, Austin, TX
IT Tour
Jan. 18, 1987 - Reunion Arena, Dallas, TX
WCD Tour
May 8, 1992 - Texas Stadium, Dallas, TX (Opening Night).
I didn't get to see them on the last two tours. I live in MN now and the closest they got in 2007 was Chicago. For TLD, they didn't even get close.
how was the 1992 opening night? And which of the three shows was your favorite?
Sad to hear you couldn’t go this time. There were plans for another North American leg, but as things turned out, COVID stopped all that. Same with more European shows -
The Scandinavian shows we had on our tour dates list for a while as "tbc" have now been confirmed (Helsinki, Malmö, Oslo) for the end of this year:

Not sure if I will come over the the UK for this one - but who knows. I never planned to witness the final Genesis show in London and I did - so...

For me, it's probably the most touching song on ...BS
I lost my father quite unexpectedly a few years ago and can really feel what lines such as "playing records upstairs while he watched TV, I didn't spend my time I should" really mean.
So it has grown over the years. A great live version came from the 1990 tour as well.

Notes: Every musician somehow comes to terms with parental/father conflicts and losses. Roger Waters did it eloquently, Mike Rutherford with a regretful bitterness, Collins with a gentle regret. All of My Life is one of those songs you can't write until you've lived something. Collins played it live in 1990 - in an interesting version. -
The tour doc was released on DVD in North America only. My question for Tony Smith is, will this be released on blu ray in the UK?
they don’t intend to - this was a Kino Lorber thing to promote the tour and they may put this on streaming services like Netflix in the future. So it makes sense to air it in TV stations in Europe first. It was aired in the UK, now France and Germany.
Kino Lorber also only did a DVD - not a blu ray

The Last Domino? Rehearsal documentary from 2021 (the one that was released on DVD in North America only) is now available in the media library of German / French TV station "arte". It may not be accessible everywhere.

I don’t like the vocal part. The grand finale is outstanding and I enjoy this during every hackett show ….

GENESIS - Mama

Musicians: Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford
Played Live: 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1992, 1998, 2007, 2021, 2022

Notes: You can write a lot about Mama, but you can't really grasp the song. It's controversial, minimalist in structure. Cynics say it would be nothing without Collins' laugh. The sound, the atmosphere, the whipping drums, Collins' voice at its best - Mama became an extraordinary world hit. -
15 Years … really?
Yes, Helsinki, 11th June 2007 - first gig of the tour.
Who was there?
