It's a great song but second tier for me.

Agree with Harold, it's 13 points from me as well. Great track from their classical period.

Genesis
Eric Clapton (and his band!)
Jeff Lynne's ELO (is there any other!)
Mott the Hoople
Hawkwind

Rumours - R.I.P. Christine, thanks for all the great music.

Steve Hackett Royal Festival Hall, one of the best concert blu ray's I own, and best of Steve's I think.

Rick Wakeman: Journey to the Centre of the Earth. One of my most played prog albums.

it's an ok track, not great not terrible. I would say it's prog but even in 2016 it was hard for new prog material to gain traction. The 1970s was the prog decade and, like punk, it's very hard to resurrect the genre without it sounding like pastiche. Ray's voice sounds a bit like Fish to me (fellow Scots), and with a bit more urgency could be mistaken for Marillion.

I remember buying ATTWT on release and this first track showed the direction of the band was changing. It's still a great album and this track falls somewhere in the middle for me.

Thanks for the heads-up, watched it over breakfast. Hope the full doc is released on disc (blu ray or 4k) in the UK.

On the ecological front, cruising is harmful to the environment like most human activity. When I was born in 1960 there were 3 billion of us, now there are 8 billion, so inevitably there has been environmental degradation and a higher concentration of CO2 (and methane) in the atmosphere. Most people accept that it will take time to wean ourselves off fossil fuels.

Cruise to the Edge is a music festival considerably more congenial than a muddy field. I'm a regular cruiser but am still restricted to school holidays for the next couple of years.

Now that Genesis have stopped performing live, it seems perfectly reasonable that Mike+Mechanics play Genesis material (particularly since the band lineup changes), otherwise it's just Steve keeping the flag flying.

This thread piqued my interest in this album which I listened to over dinner tonight. It's a pretty good prog record which really belongs in the early 70s. On a first listen, my favourite tracks are Cosmic Distance Ladder and Möbius Slip, influenced by Hawkwind amongst others.

A two man show, an evening with Mike and Tony playing instrumental/acoustic versions from their classic period, with audience Q & A's. Vocal performances can be left to Steve's band.

Space Ritual - in remembrance of Nik Turner, founder member of the mighty Hawkwind. R.I.P. Nik, thanks for all the great music.

A Trick of the Tail - released in early 1976 when I was 15 and has been my favourite album ever since. A perfect album, and I was gratified to see that Rick Beato (video with Ward Carroll) included it in their list of 10 perfect albums (didn't agree with all their choices though).

Tarja Turunen Act 1 blu ray - operatic rock!

Lists are fun, but nobody is paying to listen to Ed Sheeran or Bieber or Taylor Swift (who has the top 10 on billboard). Their music has no longevity, it is transient, disposable!

It was the first list tbat popped up, I couldn't find Genesis so gave up. Rather gratifying actually as to be in the list I quoted, they would not have been in good company!

My view of Tony Banks is that he wasn't extrovert enough to have a successful solo career.
