The only studio album I listen to is Dark Side, otherwise it's the live stuff.

I was just reading where Peter is on his retirement tour. Apparently he's got a disease that will gradually take away his ability to play the guitar. He can still play well now, but doesn't want to be out touring when he's gotten worse. I wish him well. He's had an amazing career. His two major regrets were releasing the 'I'm In You' album so soon after hitting it big with 'Frampton Comes Alive,' and choosing to appear in the Sgt. Pepper movie, which was a huge flop. I agree on both counts.
I love Peter's enthusiasm. He plays a great version of While My Guitar Gentle Weeps with Eric Clapton at Crossroads 2019.

Frampton Comes Alive!
1976, what a great year.
-
Blue Oyster Cult - Some Enchanted Evening.
-
Rick Wakeman Piano Portraits - stunning versions of Space Oddity and Life on Mars, celebrating the genius of David Bowie.
I like listening to piano versions of Genesis songs on YouTube, always wanted them to release an acoustic album.

ELP 40th anniversary reunion concert.

Personally I’m perfectly fine with the live stuff available for free on YouTube. Maybe it’s an age thing. Not sure how old you are, but I’ll be 61 at the end of the month. I grew up listening to crappy bootlegs and was happy to hear the music, despite the substandard sound quality (for example, the bootleg album I owned of the 1982 reunion show). Now, much of the bootleg material on YouTube is far superior to any unofficial live stuff I was able to get my hands on “back in the day.”
Coincidentally I'm 61. I agree there's a lot of good stuff on YouTube but I think that given Genesis' prominence in the pantheon of British rock, they haven't put much out officially. As I have laboured the point in other threads, what I want most is a blu ray or 4k of the When in Rome 2007 concert. This is a fair compilation of the band's oeuvre and should appeal to fans of both classical and pop eras.

Very true. And I do think that as fans of the band we should be grateful that unlike certain other artists Genesis has never been obsessed with blocking either studio recordings or bootlegs on YouTube. I just listened to the Detroit 1977 show over the weekend and it sounded great.
It (slightly) makes up for the paucity of official releases.

Good to see Steve is still putting out concert films, I shall add the blu ray to my collection. I think we can assume it's a profitable enterprise.

Accomplished guitarist he undoubtedly is, I don't feel any emotion from Steve's playing as he is very static on stage. It would be interesting though to hear him play While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Peter Frampton plays a great version).

Olivia Newton-John

I have a sad addition. We've just lost Judith Durham, voice of the Seekers. Check out their majestic version of The Carnival Is Over. RIP.
Lovely voice, made a few timeless records and left the stage (well The Seekers). I love that she just wanted to sing and avoid all the hoopla.

Born in 1960, if I had to pick one decade it would be the 1970s. The best decade for album releases, A Trick of the Tail, The Dark Side of the Moon, Led Zeppelin IV, Rumours etc. There has been great music produced in all time periods but the albums I play the most were released when I was at school.

Dave Gilmour should play Glastonbury and invite Kate to sing on a couple of songs. She is perhaps more likely to appear with him and reprise their performance at the Secret Policeman's Ball in 1987 (Running Up That Hill), and The Royal Festival Hall in 2002 (Comfortably Numb).
-
Excluding Supper's Ready, for Genesis it would be One for the Vine as their epic followed by Ripples.
-
Grendel - Marillion
Astronomy - Blue Oyster Cult (Some Enchanted Evening)

Everyone is left in no doubt that its Steve's show, but I agree that Nad should be centre and let off the leash a little to liven things up. He tends to shuffle on and off. Can't blame Steve for doing the Genesis material (they do it well), it is obviously a lot more remunerative than his solo work (I bought the early stuff but then lost interest). Always wondered if he ever had any regrets about leaving Genesis.

I would expect she has been invited to headline at Glastonbury every year. Even guesting with another artist would be great, imagine her duetting with Paul McCartney.
