Yes it’s not improvised at all.

I love the positivity of the thread. And I agree with the highlights listed above.
I'd add the ambience he created with his sound in Heathaze. And the middle section of One for the Vine.
Q: was the flute in The Knife from Tony's keyboard or was it Peter?
It’s from Peter. No synthesizer keyboard on Trespass album (just acoustic sound).

A big and simple truth.
Ed Sheeran is a mediocre artist...

It's quite a very nice surprise! It's more than a demo and sounds fantastic. Peter uses his punk voice, which I love.

The song isn't that well constructed: it lacks arrangements and sounds too much like a "good demo". I'm not really convinced, especially as the synth sounds have aged badly.

This is one of those Genesis songs that when I listen to it, I think "That's pretty good" and then I don't listen to it ever again until the next time I am prompted. It's got a great vocal, great drumming, some chiming 12-string. OK, I don't like some of Tony's keyboard sound choices. It definitely could have been on WCD instead of Since I Lost You. And yet it somehow never lodges in my mind enough to want to return to it
I prefer Since I Love You (the only song on WCD with an acoustic piano).

At the end of the day. We are Genesis fans. And Nic played with them but The Effect simply might have a different idea how to make music
It's not very good and orignal despite the good drumming.

We criticize CAS for the fades out but it was already the case in WCD.

I think in one of the last full moon i/o videos he said he will take 6 months off after the tour until spring and then carry on with new music. So it makes both sense. It may happen, but it may also happen that peter has now other ideas.
I doubt about it. Personally, I prefer to see Peter once again on tour... it was a relatively short tour to compare with the previous one.

It's dark and very strong despite the "fucking" abrupt fade-out. I have some reserve about the bridge in the middle (i'm not convinced with Bank's effects on keyboards). A solid 14.

I definetely prefer the original version.
-
It's an excellent track, especially the live version with the complex bass line by Mike and a very inspired Tony on keybords (14).

First listen of the new album this morning. It's not really good. The guitar solos aren't very inspired (always the same chord descents). Some melody ideas not exploited. I stand by my critical judgment: Steve's last interesting album was At The Edge of The Light.

I remember Abacab single edit played on national radio here in Britain at the time of its release, but never since.
I rarely hear Genesis on the radio here. Occasionally various hit singles will feature on nostalgia 'greatest hits' type stations - IT, FYFM, LoC or TIOA. BBC 6 Music occasionally plays album tracks, most often Guy Garvey of Elbow who has a very good Sunday afternoon show. As mentioned earlier in this thread he's known for quite often playing the Seconds Out version of Carpet Crawlers, in fact he's so devoted to it he refers to it as 'Carpet Crawl' as per the original cover. But he's also played Entangled and Ripples. Other presenters on the same channel have played DWTMK and FoF.
Abacab still gets regular airplay on classic rock-oriented US and Canadian radio stations.

Couldn't agree more. Lack of structure and flow in the arrangement again make it a hard and unfulfilling listen.
So far I'm not really convinced by the 3 tracks on the album. It's even worse than the last albums. What a mess!

The monolithic drum sound is a little bit repetitive for me. But it's a powerful song overall.

Ok thanks Christian!
