And Then There Were Three was a solid transitional album but the loss of Steve Hackett is felt throughout. The songs sound a bit unfinished to me; almost like they were b-sides from prior sessions.

Here is Nad Sylvan's first performance of "Blood On The Rooftops".

I see online that Steve Hackett and his band played "Blood On The Rooftops" this week with Nad Sylvan on lead vocals. Was anyone here in attendance? Would love to know how it sounded.

This is solo Phil but still great cover ...

Been seeing some really great Genesis covers on YouTube. Which are your favorites? Here are a some of mine (I'm only including those that don't include any former Genesis members):

Steve mentiones in this interview that Craig Blundell will be taking over the drums after the first few shows. I don't know him. What kind of drummer is he?
-
How about we start with something simple. Steve shows up at a Phil gig and they play something like "Blood On The Rooftops". The YouTube videos of that would go viral attracting the attention of the Live Nation's of the world. The offers for a reunion tour of Phil, Steve, Tony, and Mike would be hard for them to turn down. Nic and Chester would handle the drums. Daryl might also be needed for extra guitars. It would be spectacular.
-
Tickets purchased for both the Ithaca, NY show and the 2nd Keswick show for Philadelphia! I'll have to decide which show to do a meet-and-greet for now. Steve always seemed like a nice, down-to-earth guy. I also like several people in his band (well, all of them really). So, why not meet them this time around? I can't imagine he'll do these Genesis-themed shows forever.
I have noticed a pattern, though. He's singled out "Wind & Wuthering" and "Selling England By The Pound" on a couple of these tours. He's also honored "Voyage Of The Acolyte", "Please Don't Touch", and now "Spectral Mornings" as well. Does that mean he'll single out "A Trick Of The Tail" and/or "Defector" in the near future? I guess time will tell.
P.S. If anyone wants the pre-sale code for The Beacon Theater show in NYC on September 25th, it's "ROCK" (all caps, no quotation marks).
Would love to see him play the entire Trick of The Tail album. My guess is it will hinge on whether Roger King can play the piano mid-section of Mad Man Moon. Few can play that with only two hands.
-
I must be in the minority but I would love to see a Genesis Revisited 3. Revisited 2 was magnificent; showing respect for the old songs but pumping them full of life and luster. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Losing Gary on the drums though is a BIG loss as he played so tastefully and elegantly and his singing is stellar. Hoping Gary will at least appear on studio albums even if he can't tour. "Mad Man Moon", "Squonk", and "One For The Vine" among many others have yet to be "reborn" by Mr. Hackett.
-
Anyone know how Marco's drumming is fitting in to the band's sound. I always found Gary's drumming to be a less is more approach similar to how Phil used to play.
-
Picking a top three is really tough but, for me, the clear top tier is:
Trick Of The Tail
Selling England By The Pound
Duke
Wind & Wuthering
The Lamb
-
Really interesting that The Lamb seems to be dropping in consensus Genesis album polls while Trick, Wind, and Duke seem to be rising.
-
1. A Trick of The Tail
2. Duke
3. Wind & Wuthering
4. Selling England By The Pound
5. Genesis
6. Foxtrot
7. Abacab
8. Invisible Touch
9. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
10. Trespass
11. And Then There Were Three
12. Nursery Cryme
13. We Can't Dance
14. From Genesis To Revelation
15. Calling All Stations
