Sean Lock, UK comedian, aged 58 from cancer. He had talked of having skin cancer in the past. Such a shame, he was one of my 3 favourite comedians of the current crop * (Lee Mack and Rhod Gilbert, since you're asking), he looked like any bloke you might meet in a pub, but his comedy took you on surreal trips you'd never expect. RIP, Purple Van Man!

    * Jasper Carrott, who I was lucky enough to see live in the 70's, is unparalleled by any crop!

Just heard of the sad death of Nanci Griffith, aged 68, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and chronicler of life in smalltown America for about 4 decades. No cause of death given yet, but she has had cancer twice, so it seems likely it was involved.

Although her music went off the boil a few years back, there's lots of great stuff in there, and the 2 disc set "The complete MCA recordings" is a good place to get a flavour of her best work. Here's one of her best, with a superb intro by the lady herself. RIP.

I’m confused. Not to start another debate over this stuff but in reality doesn’t that decision (mask/vaccine requirements) reside with the government? Does me mean he will only play in cities where there are no such requirements?

He has said this, yes. Hope it doesn't come back to bite him. Ironic if he caught it from an audience member and had serious consequences.

It's not segregation. Those who choose not to vaccinate have made their choice, Those who have, have too.

I'm inclined to avoid it too as I want to go into my first gig completely in the dark, but nevertheless I've still been checking in on the thread. Pre-tour, once you sift out the pie-in-the-sky speculating and wish-listing there's really just discussion of the stuff we'd pretty much all predict they'll likely play. Once the first gig has taken place the thread is definitely a no-go zone for me.

    Keep it dark! ^^

Fair point made. Just to respond, I want you to know that I take the privilege of moderating this forum seriously. I think deeply and thoughtfully before I make a determination to delete the thoughts and posts of any member on here. I too have my own opinions and feelings about such topics as were being discussed. That being said, it’s not my position as a moderator to take sides, even though I have a side. If a thread is off topic, we must get back on topic. In addition, the team does inform members privately of their toxic behaviors, usually without other forum members being aware. With that being said, carry on!

I agree with both you, and thewatcher (apt UserID, it appears! ^^) but it's a fine line to walk. On balance, you seem to have got it right, IMO.

I’m pretty sure Steve was looking at Genesis in the eighties and thought ‘I’d like to be that successful as well”, who would not? Then again, he had the chance to be part of a band like GTR and I am pretty sure his major force was to make great music that people would like and not being as successful as Genesis

Agreed. If I was at that level of ability, and had the chance to work with either of them, I'd be mad to say no.

Darktown in my case - though I wouldn’t consider any of the more recent stuff “bad”, those Album are all okay. But they never got close to what Steve did on Darktown.

I hope to have the review finished by end of August. It’s actually quite nice to live with an album for a while before sitting down and writing the review. Usually it’s always a time issue

Beyond the Shrouded Horizon for me, but Darktown is certainly a high spot. I've long said a review needs months, even years, to truly reflect an albums strengths or weaknesses. Some music is like those shiny things that turn green in a few months! ;)

I rarely have breakfast, but porridge is one of my go-to's. Not made with milk, water, sugar and Salt.

Good first verse. Over to PG for verse 2................

    :D

OATMEAL WARS!!! Next big thing the on The Food Network.

In all seriousness, @Backdrifter's oatmeal breakfast has long sounded nothing short of legendary to me, and the whole fruit in my oatmeal was frozen. If I had to guess, his would win in an "oatmeal breakfast competition" (sounds like a missing section of Supper's Ready!). However, the oats I use are made/grown in Dungarvan, Waterford, Ireland giving me a connection to home, and the orange blossom honey is a new discovery purchased at the roadside in Maine, and is absolutely gorgeous. So it might be tight!

You could all write a new classic: "Breakfast's Ready"! ^^
